Harold’s New York Deli, located in Edison New Jersey is a bucket list restaurant in New Jersey.
From the exterior of Harold’s New York Deli, it doesn’t look like anything special. Honestly, it’s probably not a place I would ever try if I just drove past it. The restaurant is situated between two hotels, in a very unassuming building. The one thing that might make you think twice about the restaurant is the number of cars in the parking lot.
Upon entering you will see a case with gigantic pastries. Pictures don’t do the pastries justice, they are huge!
Above the hostess station is a sign stating that sharing is encouraged. (This should give you an idea of how big everything is!)
Once seated and looking at the menu the prices may be a bit of a shock, but remember it’s a ton of food and will feed multiple people. The menu lists how many people each item will feed. I feel like for someone with a normal appetite they are very conservative with the serving size, and you could share with more people.
Along with massive size portions there is also an all you can eat pickle bar with breads (to make more sandwiches from the massive one) and various kinds of pickles.
On our first trip to Harold’s we had no idea what to expect, Jared’s cousins told us they had huge portions but we didn’t fully understand what that meant. So, Jared and I ordered a half salad and large pastrami sandwich to share.
Oh man, it was so much food! By the end of our meal we were stuffed and our plates didn’t look like we had eaten anything!
Just a few weeks ago we went to Harold’s again and ordered the same half-salad and large sandwich for 3 adults and 3 children and we still had enough leftovers for 2 lunches.
Our goal each time we visit is to still be a little hungry so we can order dessert. We have been to Harold’s three times and only ordered dessert once.
Food’s we have tried at Harold’s New York Deli
Large Pastrami Sandwich
Harold’s Cobb Salad
Grilled Chicken Breast “Cordon Bleu” with Virginia Ham and Melted Swiss
Ribs and other meat Platter (the Ribs were amazing!)
Supersized “Chocolate Éclair” with Bavarian Cream Filling
We really need to visit Harold’s New York Deli with a big group so we can order a meal and still have room for dessert!
