Alstede Farms in Chester, New Jersey hosts a peach festival each year. We went to the peach festival for our second year this past weekend. The festival is a great family activity with plenty of yummy treats and fun family activities.
The Peach Festival dates for 2016 are August 6&7 and August 13&14. The peach festival starts at 9 am and is open until 6 pm.
Things to do at the Peach Festival:
Hay Ride and Pick Your Own Peaches
Take a scenic Hay ride around Alstede Farms to pick your own Peaches. Along with peaches you can pick a variety of other produce including Peppers, Eggplant, Green Beans, Corn, Blueberries, Blackberries, Raspberries and more. Before you go to pick your produce you can see what you
can pick today and the price per pound.
The Hay ride is a covered wagon with hay pulled behind a tractor. The Hay ride stops at various spots throughout the farm to let people on and off near the produce they want to pick.
The hay wagon doesn’t have a ton of room but we did see people with strollers on the wagon. Next time we go I plan on taking a collapsible wagon so we can pull the boxes of fruit and our toddler around.
To pick your own produce there is an admission price that includes a Hay Wagon Ride, Live Entertainment on weekends and holidays and access to the Sunflower Maze.
Pick Your Own Admission Price:
Monday – Thursday from 9 am to 12 pm FREE Admission
Monday – Thursday from 12 pm to 6 pm $5 per person age 2+
Friday 9 am – 6 pm $5 per person
(If a Holiday falls on one Monday – Thursday then they charge holiday prices.)
Saturday, Sunday and Holidays from 9 am to 6 pm $6.99 per person age 2+
Feed Farm Animals
Alstede Farms has a variety of different farm animals that you can visit and feed. The animals that you can feed include horses, goats, donkeys, sheep, cows and more.
It’s free to see the animals, and feed them if you bring your own food (carrots, lettuce, apples). If you didn’t bring food for the animals, you can purchase a feed bag of veggies.
Other activities you can do at the farm include Pony Rides, Corn Kingdom, Wagon Train Rides, Sunflower Maze. Each of these activities cost. You can pay per activity or you can pay one price for unlimited access to these activities and pick your own fruit.
What to eat at the Peach Festival:
The Farm Store sells Homemade Ice Cream in a variety of different flavors. Last year we tried both the Peach Soft-Serve and Hand-Scooped Ice cream. The Hand-Scooped was our favorite!
Hen House Food and Drinks
Stop by the Hen House for various types of food including Hot Dogs, Fries, Salads, and other similar foods. You can see a full list here.
Peach Festival Tent
At the peach tent, there are tons of different yummy peach treats. We got a plate with peach cake, pie and fresh peaches. It was yummy!
After our day at the peach festival we brought home a big box of peaches. Our peaches are just starting to ripen and they are so sweet and delicious. I can’t wait until a few more ripen and I can make a Peach Pie.
