Last weekend Jared ran his second mud race the Warrior Dash. This race was in Maryland and quite a bit different than the race in Florida.
The race in Florida was the Rugged Maniac so obviously, since the races are done by different companies, they are going to be different. The obstacles were different, Jared said he felt like the Warrior Dash was more difficult.
One major difference between the races was location (not just the state).
The Florida race was at a horse race track so there was grass and areas for spectators (Aaron and I) to spread a blanket and watch people finish. The land was relatively flat so the racers didn’t have many hills to run up or down.
The Maryland race on the other hand was out on farm with nothing around. Everything was muddy and there was not a very good area to watch the racers finish. The race in Maryland had a ton of hills, making the running between obstacles more challenging. The wash off area was much better in Florida than in Maryland as well.
Jared had a lot of fun running both races so I’m sure he will do another one at some point and we will see how it ranks with these first two.
Soon after everyone finished the race a ton of dark clouds blew in as we ran for the cars. (a 5K away!) The wind blew a large storm in and just before we got to the car it started pouring rain. A wet end to a muddy day!
Have you ever run a mud race? How did you like it?
