Since starting this blog I have done a lot of research on how to promote my content. I have found that Pinterest is the best way to go. So, I started pinning and pinning and pinning. I have spent a ton of time on Pinterest and I have seen an increase in my traffic from Pinterest, but I was ready cut back on the time I spend pinning. There are a lot of options to schedule pins I decided to give Viraltag a try.
This post is sponsored and contains affiliate links.
Viraltag offers a Free 14 day trial with no credit card required. It’s fast and easy to set up your account and Viraltag also works for Facebook, Instagram and other social sites; I have only used it for Pinterest though.
After you create your account you are ready to start scheduling your pins!
First set up the schedule you want. On your dashboard click Posting Schedule.
There are some times already scheduled that you can change if you want. I left those times and added more. Viral tag also offers suggested times based on your Pinterest data. You can always go back and edit your time slots.
Posting with the Viraltag Extension
Now that you know how to set the schedule lets pin! Pinning to Viral tag is quick and easy with the web browser extension.
After installing the extension go to a blog post you want to pin and click the extension in your toolbar. (Make sure it’s a post not the main page!)
Once you have clicked the extension all the images on that page will show up. If an image isn’t there it probably hadn’t finished loading when you clicked the extension. If so, click the x and then the extension again.
You can now select the images you want to pin by clicking on them. After you have selected the images you want hit the Red Schedule button.
A new page will come up with Pinterest like boxes for each image you selected. You can now select the boards you want to the image pinned to, edit the description and select what time you want it to post.
When selecting the time, you can enter a custom time, or put it in the next available time slot in your schedule. You also have the option of setting intervals so there is a set amount of time between images pinning.
Once everything looks the way you want it to hit the final schedule button and you’re done. You can head over to your dashboard and see your newly scheduled posts under the scheduled posts tab. You can also see what has recently posted and failed posts.
One of my favorite options with viral tag is the ability to mark posts as Evergreen. How this works is if you have posts marked evergreen and at any point have an open spot in your schedule Viraltag will automatically pull an evergreen post and pin it.
It took me a while to figure out how to use this feature, but once I did it was easy.
*Evergreen meaning content that isn’t dated or seasonal.
How to Make a Pin Evergreen
- Go to the Recent Posts tab on your dashboard
- Find a post that recently pinned that’s evergreen and click the Evergreen button.
- Now click on the Evergreen tab the post you just set to evergreen should be shown under this tab now.
Review of Viraltag
Since I have only used Viraltag for a short time I know there are still things I need it figure out, but I have been very impressed with my use of the program so far.
- Easy to use the extension to schedule pins.
- Great customer service.
- Saves me time on Pinterest and keeps me boards updated.
- Somethings can take a while to figure out – like the Evergreen content.
- Setting up the Pinning Schedule can take quite a bit of time. (I wish I could just select from this time to that time and schedule a post every 10 minutes or something.)
If you haven’t given Viraltag a try yet head over and start your FREE 14 day trial. If you have any questions be sure to ask, customer service is amazing. After my 14 day trial, I asked for a couple of days more to continue testing the program and within a couple of hours they extended my trial by 7 days.
After your trial is over if you have a blog you can write a review of the product and get 6 months free access and after the 6 months you can continue getting the same plan for $9 a month.
