Easy DIY Conversation Heart Kitchen Cabinet Valentines Decor

Inside: How to make easy diy kitchen cabinet valentines decorations with wooden conversation hearts.

This year after taking down my kitchen cabinet Christmas wreaths I decided I wanted to decorate the kitchen for Valentines day.

I spend so much of my time each day in the kitchen and I loved the magic having it decorated for Christmas brought so I decided to make some Valentines Kitchen Cabinet decorations.

DIY Kitchen Cabinet Valentines Decor

At first I was thinking I wanted to make little wreaths but I ended up liking the cluster of conversation hearts better.

To start of making the Kitchen Cabinet decorations for Valentines you need to gather your supplies.

Valentines Kitchen Cabinet Decor Supplies

Wooden Hearts (you can sometimes find them at the dollar store I got them on Amazon)
Craft paints in various colors (pastel or bright colors)
Hot Glue Gun and Glue
Black Sharpie or something to write the words with (paint, letter stickers, etc)
Tape
Ribbon or string to hang the valentines door hangers

Making the Candy Hearts

After getting all the supplies together the first thing you’re going to do is make the candy hearts.

Decide how many hearts you need (I used three per door hanger and random individual hearts on my cabinets) and what colors you will be using.

I chose to paint my hearts in a variety of colors including pink, purple, yellow, blue, and green.

After painting the hearts let them completely dry. Then write cute conversation heart messages on each individual heart.

I tried using puff paint and a sharpie to see which I liked better and I liked the look of the black sharpie the best. You can try out different ways of writing the words on the hearts to figure out which look you like best.

You can choose anything you want to write on the hearts, pick from the list or get creative with your own messages.

Making the Kitchen Cabinet Valentines Door Hangers

Once you have the conversation hearts done it’s time to make the door hangers.

Decide how you want to position the candy hearts, if you want the more traditional kitchen cabinet wreath shape you can position the hearts to make a circle.

I loved the look of the cady hearts in more of a line hanging down the door. So I chose to glue three hearts together and hang them from the cabinets.

I positioned the conversation hearts the way I liked them and made sure I had different messages on each heart in the cluster I was making.

Then I used hot glue on the back of the middle heart to attach the three conversation hearts together.

After letting the glue dry I hung the wreaths from my cabinets with silver curly ribbon by taping the ribbon to the top back of the cabinets.

You can put some tape on the back of the bottom heart so the valentines door hanger wouldn’t move as the cabinets were opened and closed.

I chose to hang the valentines candy heart clusters on only a few kitchen cabinet doors and on the other doors to simply tape a few conversation hearts.

I love the look of having each cabinet a little bit different.

Adding the conversation heart Kitchen Cabinet Valentines decorations to my kitchen along with the paper bag snowflakes I have hanging over my sink has given the kitchen such a fun and festive look for February and Valentines!
