Best Maryland Fact Teller for Kids (Free Printable)

Inside: Free printable Maryland Fact Teller for kids with 8 fun facts about the state of Maryland.

We have had so much fun learning about Maryland as part of our study of the 50 states and Washington DC.

One of the kid’s favorite activities was making a Maryland State Fact Teller and quizzing each other and Dad about Maryland.

This printable Maryland fact teller packs eight fun trivia questions into that familiar paper fold (think of those cootie catchers and fortune tellers you made as a kid).

Kids pick words, count folds, and reveal answers about Maryland facts without realizing they’re learning.

What Makes This Maryland Fact Teller Different and Fun

  • Tactile engagement: Folding paper and moving flaps keeps hands busy and minds focused on a way that reading alone never does.
  • Peer appeal: Kids play fortune tellers with each other, which means your child becomes the one teaching Maryland facts to friends.
  • Repeat exposure: Every time they play, they see the questions and answers again, building retention without flashcards.
  • Control and choice: Kids get to pick the words and numbers, giving them agency in their own learning experience.

How To Make a Fact Teller

How to Use the Fact Teller

To use the fact teller the person holding the teller asks a friend to choose from each layer of the fact teller in order, word, number and number.

The chosen word and numbers determine which flaps are opened and which question is asked and is fact told.

The Maryland Fact Teller gives kids the choices of the words Maryland, Crab, Navy and Oriole for the first round.

Second and third rounds kids choose a number 1-8 out of the four numbers shown.

The first number selected you move the fact teller open and closing that many times.

The second number is the flap that is lifted with a question about Maryland and the answering Fact under the flap.
