Inside: Free printable Letter E is for Elk Craft. This fun alphabet activity is perfect for toddlers and preschoolers.
This year, I have both a toddler and a preschooler who are learning the alphabet. To make it more fun I wanted to include hands-on activities.

So we’re doing ABC crafts! One for each letter of the alphabet. This week we are doing a craft for the letter E.
You can see all our other Alphabet crafts here.
Alphabet Crafts For Toddlers and Preschoolers
These crafts are a fun way to introduce upper case letters, and the letter sounds through hands-on activities.

This week we focused on the uppercase letter E. We read some fun Letter E picture books, practiced the sound the letter “E” makes, and made this E is for Elk craft.

This alphabet craft is perfect for at-home preschool, pre-k students, kindergarten children, or even first grade learners. (Being totally honest my son in 5th grade had fun making mine for me.)
Letter E Craft
There are so many words that start with the letter E, but I decided Elk was perfect since my family loves going to Yellowstone so much.

The capital letter E makes the body of the Elk with eyes, ears and antlers the kids can add to make the “E” Elk.
Kids color the uppercase letter E, (brown or whatever color they want) then glue on all the other pieces.
This printable animal craft doesn’t just look cute it builds fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and letter recognition.

It’s also a fun craft that doubles as an educational activity for young children even toddlers can have fun with it. (My three year old loved it!)
I was planning to make an Elk along with my kids but my 5th grader volunteered to do it with them instead.
My 3 year old had a lot of fun just coloring all the parts of her Elk and it turned out so cute and colorful.

My 5 year old worked really hard this week to make his E look like an elk. (This is the first time he hasn’t wanted his craft to be red or green).
Keep in mind when you see the perfectly put together cute alphabet crafts (or any craft) for preschool and toddlers…they probably weren’t made by young kids.
I personally feel like it’s really important to let kids use there imagination and create instead of “getting it right” all the time.

So don’t stress if the Elk ends up rainbow-colored with eyes at it’s feet looking more like a monster than an Elk. It’s still a perfect addition to your alphabet activities and will make a colorful alphabet wall.
How We Made Our Letter E for Elk Craft
First I let the kids color the shapes with crayons, colored pencils and markers.
While they colored I read some letter E books and we watched Letter Factory from A through the letter E as a review of sounds.

After the kids finished coloring I cut everything out for them and then they glued it all together.

After the kids were done with their Elk “E” we put them on the wall (in a classroom you could do a bulletin board display).
We have a few different areas in the house that our Animal Alphabet Crafts are hanging.

I’m so excited to see what the whole alphabet will look like when we are done.
