Inside: The homeschool curriculum we will be using for 6th grade, 4th grade, Kindergarten and Preschool.
We are just finishing our first week of homeschool and we’re slowly getting back into routine. Since we’ve already gotten started with some of our subjects, I figured it’s about time I share our homeschool curriculum we are using this school year.

There are so many different homeschool curriculum options out there I love being able to see what other families are using. But having so many different options can also make me want to change curriculum about a million times.

Homeschool Curriculum Picks 4th and 6th Graders
I’m going to keep this short and simple with what we are planning to use this year. My kids are at different grade levels but will be using the same curriculum and resources (at different levels) for Language Arts and Math.
Language Arts
- The Good and The Beautiful Handwriting: They will both be doing this once or twice a week. This year they will both be working on cursive.
- The Good and the Beautiful LA: We will continue using TGTB Language arts along with the readers.
- Kids Journal: This journal has a short question for the kids to answer each day, and they have been loving it. We will continue to do this a couple of times a week.
- The Good and the Beautiful Spelling: The spelling program was released this summer, and my kids have been enjoying using it. It takes about 5 to 10 minutes and is done online.
- Prodigy English: We will be using the free Prodigy English on occasion for a fun way to change things up.
Math
- The Good and The Beautiful Math: We will be continuing to use TGTB Math since it has been working well for us.
- Fables World: We started using Fables World this summer and it has made math so much more fun for my kids. My daughter does not love math, but Fables World has made it so much more enjoyable, and she has learned so much in the month we have been using the program. (Use Code Adree to save at checkout!)
Extras
Typing.com: We have used this free program for a couple of years and it’s been a great way to learn typing.
Code.org: My kids have had so much fun learning coding with these free classes.
Homeschool Curriculum Kindergarten and Preschool
The two littles will also be using The Good and The Beautiful this year.
Math and Language Arts
My Kindergartener will be finishing the preschool level and moving on to Kindergarten Language Arts and Math. My 4-year-old just started the preschool level and is loving it.
To give them something to do independently while I work with the older kids that is on the computer (they like to do things like the big kids). They are both using Teach Your Monster to Read to review LA and my Kindergartner is doing Fables World.
Family Style Curriculum
Our other Subjects are family style with the two youngest joining us sometimes (I don’t make them join for everything).
Science
Yes, we’re doing this family style…kind of. My two oldest are going to be doing The Good and the Beautiful Cooking 1 this fall. This curriculum is designed for them to be able to do independently (with minor help from mom).
They did lesson one this week and loved it! They can’t wait to continue cooking.
I haven’t decided what science we will be doing once they finish Cooking 1; we will see what we feel like as it gets closer.
The little kids are going to be doing The Good and The Beautiful Science for Little Hearts and Hands. We are hoping to get through 2 or 3 different topics this year.
The big kids may join us for some of these lessons, we will see. (My philosophy is that even big kids like simple activities and don’t outgrow them as quickly as we think.)
Geography
Per the kids request we are continuing to learn about the 50 States (we took a break last year). We are using Exploring the Great United States and some other fun resources I share in this post.
We are going to start over with our study since it’s been a couple of years, and the little kids are going to be joining us. Along with the worksheets from our curriculum, I’m also going to be adding some extra activities, readings and reports for my big kids for a few states.
History
For history this year we are going to be using Story of the World Volume 1: Ancient Times. I got the book, audio book and activity book to pull from.
We will be starting History in September and I’ll share about it on Instagram.
Art and Music
- Piano Lessons: all 3 of my oldest kids are taking in person piano lessons once a week.
- Draw, Write, Now: These books are so fun to use on their own or along with your history/ geography/ science units.
- The Good and The Beautiful Music 1: We are really excited to do this music course once a week together as a family.
Other Unit Studies
I’m sure we will probably add in an unplanned unit study or two. Including Christmas school which I’m still getting figured out.
Last year we learned about A Christmas Carol and Christmas in England, and it was so fun.
Extras: Games, Apps and Books We are Loving
Games
We love playing games and incorporating them into our school day, or family time in the evenings.
The last couple of weeks I have started playing a game with my early riser before we make breakfast. It’s a fun one on one activity to start our morning.

Apps
I love trying to make some of our screen time educational with these apps.
- Stack the States 2: We are using this for the kids to learn the state names, shapes and capitals as well as other facts. (We also have the first Stack the States but my kids like the second one better).
- DuoLingo: My husband speaks Spanish and some of the kids really good friends also speak it so Spanish has been an interest at our house this year
- 1776: We just got the 1776 from Immersive History and we are excited to use it as part of our history exploration this year.
