What’s Inside the Little Book About Dr. King

The little book printable has 8 pages including a title page. Below are the facts that I chose to include in the printable.

  • Martin Luther King Jr. Was born in Atlanta, Georgia January 15, 1929.
  • His first name at birth was Michael and was later changed to Martin.
  • When Martin Luther was growing up the Southern United States had ‘Jim Crow laws’. These laws kept black and white people separated in what is called segregation.
  • Martin Luther was a Baptist minister and civil rights activist.
  • He helped fight against discrimination in the United States with nonviolent protests.
  • Martin helped to organize the Montgomery Bus Boycott. Where for 381 days many people boycotted (didn’t use) the bus.
  • In 1963 Martin gave his famous “I Have a Dream” speech in Washington DC.
  • Thanks to Martin Luther King Jr. and others like him in 1964 – 99 years after the abolition (end) of slavery – the Civil Rights Act was passed. This act outlaws racial segregation and discrimination in the USA.
  • Each year on the 3rd Monday in January we remember Martin Luther King Jr. and his dream that everyone would be treated as equals.

Now that you know what’s inside the little book about Martin Luther King jr. let me show you how to fold it.

How to Fold the Little Book about MLK

Before you fold the book you need to print it (get the pdf file at the bottom of the post). When printing make sure you print the file the actual size so that it folds correctly.

After printing out your book fold it in half like a hamburger.

While the book is folded in half cut on the dotted line to the end of the page with the dots, don’t cut into the next little pages of the book.

Now unfold the page and fold it in half lengthwise. Unfold and pinch the middle pages together this will pull the other pages into each other.

Crease the lines between the pages and fold them into a closed book.

(watch the video included in this post to see how I folded the book)
