10+ Songs to Sing With Your Toddler

Both of my kids love to sing and be sung to. Songs are a great way to teach kids and build their vocabulary while they are having fun. It’s so easy to sing with your toddler and it can be so much fun.

We have been singing to our kids since before they were talking and it has paid off. My 3-year-old knows all of his letters thanks to the alphabet song and our 18 months old knows about half of the letters. They also know the words to a number of other songs.

Songs to Sing with Your Toddler

Here are some of our favorite songs to sing with our kids.

Twinkle, Twinkle Litle Star

Both of our kids know all of the words to this song and it’s the one they often request to sing.

The song has a simple tune and is short with repetition making it easier for young kids to learn and remember the words.

The Wheels on the Bus

This is a classic song that kids love to sing. Often they pick up the action words (beep, open and shut, shhh) first. It’s a fun song to sing that’s perfect for in the car.

5 Little Ducks

5 little ducks is a great song that helps familiarise toddlers with counting and the numbers 1-5. It’s also fun since it involves animal sounds

Old McDonald had a Farm

This song is so fun and it allows kids to help create the verses. We like to sing the song and then pause after “he had a….” and let the kids fill in the animal.

Sometimes we end up with crazy animals and we all end up laughing and sometimes we end up with cows three times in a row. But the kids love that they get to pick the animal.

5 Little Speckled Frogs

Similar to 5 little ducks this song helps kids use numbers and is a fun song with a lot of repetition.

Head, Shoulders, Knee, and Toes

This is such a fun song that helps kids learn and identify body parts. It also helps get wiggles out. We like to see how fast we can do the song and it often ends with lots of giggles. Since it’s so silly!

Popcorn Popping

This song has so many fun hand motions it’s a fun way to work on coordination.

If You’re Happy and You Know It

My kids love this song and it works like magic to change attitudes. (most of the time) we sing this song frequently in the car and the kids seem to enjoy it.

The Alphabet Song

As I mentioned in n the beginning of this post. Both of my kids know the alphabet or a lot of it thanks to the alphabet song. With its catchy tune, it’s a great way to help young kids learn the letter names.

Here are some of our favorite ways to teach toddlers the alphabet.

Rain, Rain Go Away

This song is perfect for rainy days and my kids sing it constantly when it rains at our house. It’s so cute, I can’t help but smile.

Down By the Bay

We just recently started singing this song with our toddlers and it has quickly become a favorite. They really love it when we sing custom verses with their names.

I know there are tons of other songs to sing with your toddlers. These are just a few of our favorites.
