7 Essential Classroom Supplies

It’s crazy how fast this summer is going. Depending on where you live school will be starting again in just a few weeks.

Though neither of my kids will be going to school this fall I was curious about what supplies teachers always need.  So I asked a friend who teaches elementary school what supplies she always needs more of. She told me 7 essential classroom supplies that she always asks for.

7 Essential School Supplies

These 7 items are what my first-grade teaching friend says she always asks for, so chances are that your child’s elementary school teacher could also use more of these supplies.

1. Tissues

The need for tons of tissues makes sense to me. It seems we are always running out of tissues and I only have 2 kids, not a whole class full!

2. Clorox Wipes

Being surrounded by kids all day, disinfecting has to be a priority so everyone isn’t sick all the time.

Disinfecting wipes make cleaning up and sanitizing so easy, it’s no surprise that they are on an elementary school teachers supply list!

3. Pencils

Pencils are a must-have school supply for any classroom, it is school after all. My friend that teaches 1st grade says that the Ticonderoga brand is best.

4. Bandaids

Gotta have those bandaids and first aid kits ready for any little mishap that might happen during the day.

5. Crayons

Though it might seem like teachers would always have plenty of crayons. They tend to be always disappearing and often breaking.

6. Books

Reading is a necessary life skill, so books must be a classroom necessity. Teachers need a variety of types of books in their classroom libraries to be able to appeal to kids with a number of different interests. See some of our favorite Fall picture books in this post.

7. Glue sticks

Glue sticks are another one of those classroom supplies that a teacher never wants to run out of.

As your considering what supplies your child’s elementary teacher might need. Consider the items I just mentioned that a first-grade teacher said she always needs in her classroom.
