It’s the second Wednesday so that means it’s time for our Inspire My Creativity Link Party. The theme this month is Stencils. To be honest I haven’t done a lot of crafting with stencils so I was excited and a little worried about this theme but I love how this Rustic Photo Display turned out with a simple quote stencil.

Supplies
- Piece of Wood ( Mine is about 10 1/2 x 8 x 1)
- Sandpaper
- White Paint ( I used acrylic craft paint)
- Black Paint
- Quote Stencil (This is the stencil I used)
- Foam Brush
- Twine
- Little Clothes Pins (Get these and other craft items at the Dollar Store)
- Sharpie
- Staple Gun
Making the Photo Display
Step 1: Cut and Prep Wood
First, cut your wood to the size you want and sand it. I just did a light sanding because I wanted to be able to see some of the roughness on the edges from the wood being cut.

Step 2: Paint Wood
Paint the wood. I chose to only do one layer of white paint so I could still see the wood grain behind the paint. For a more solid white do a couple layers.
Step 3: Stencil
First chose where you want the stencil to go on photo display. I ended up choosing to put the quote at the bottom of the display so the photos would go above it.

I used a pencil to lightly mark the center of the board to make sure the quote didn’t look off. Use tape to secure the stencil so it doesn’t move and paint lightly to avoid paint bleeding through.
I did two layers of black paint and let them dry before removing the stencil.

Step 4: Touch up
When I removed the stencil there were a couple of spots that weren’t quite dark enough so I grabbed a black sharpie and touched up a couple of letters.
Step 5: Twine and Little Clothes Pins
The last step is to attach the twine to the board for you to hang your photos from. I wrapped the twine around the board twice and at each end, I made a loop so it was easier to staple to the back of the board.

After stapling the twine securely to the board flip it over and add a couple of little clothes pins and a photo or two.
Now the question is where are you going to use this fun rustic photo display?
