The Ingredients
Oats, fenugreek, flaxseed meal, and Brewer’s yeast are the most typical lactation recipe ingredients. Most lactation cookies include a few if not all of these milk-boosting ingredients.
So what do these ingredients do and why are they considered to be good for lactation?
Oats
Oats have a high amount of saponins which helps increase levels of prolactin. Prolactin is a key hormone needed for milk production.
Oats also have protein, vitamins, and minerals that are great for everyone!
Fenugreek
Fenugreek seeds can help your body balance your estrogen, which then helps regulate prolactin levels for better milk production.
Flaxseed Meal
Flaxseed meal contains omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. These healthy fats are not only good for mom but also give breast milk a nutritional boost.
Brewer’s Yeast
Brewers yeast is filled with B vitamins and is really good for many of the body’s processes.
