For quite a while I have really wanted a big travel map that we could mark everywhere we have traveled.
I looked at purchasing a Travel Map but they can get expensive; so, I decided to make my own, it ended up being really easy.
To make a Travel Map you will need:
- A Map (This can be any size you want – Amazon has one that’s 24 x 36 inches) The map I used is one I had around the house.
- Glue (To attach the Map)
- Foam Boards ( I used Foam Poster boards from the dollar store)
- Wood for Frame
- Command Strips
- Pins
- Washi Tape
- Packing Tape
I used packing tape to tape the foam boards together and then I glued (I used a glue stick) the map to the boards.
Then we used wood trim from the home depot to make a frame for the map. We glued the frame right on the map to help reinforce the map sticking to the foam boards.
We used long pins with washi tape to make the places we have visited. You can buy map pins, but I wanted to be able to write the place we visited so the washi tape works better for the look I want.
***the command strips work great to hang the map since it’s light weight.
I am happy with how the map turned out, it is really fun to have a visual of the places we have visited. Our map is only of places we have visited together.
