A couple of weeks ago I received a party pack from Tryazon with a Sterno Home Buffet and three Flameless Mirage Pillar Candles. Opening the box and seeing all of the fun products made me so excited to try them out.
Thank you Tryazon and Sterno for the free Sterno Home Buffet and Pillar Candles to have at our party!
This past Sunday we had a dinner and game night with some of our friends and used the home buffet and pillar candles.
The Sterno Home Buffet comes with a foldable frame, lid, fuel holder tray, 2 fuel holders, water pan and 2 food pans.
For dinner, I decided to make some family favorites, homemade lasagna, and breadsticks. Both of these recipes are fairly simple and easy to make.
In one of the pans, I made lasagna. The 2 food pans that come with the home buffet can be used in the oven making it really easy to make an entree in the 9x13ish size pans.
In the other food pan, I put breadsticks after they were done baking.
The Sterno home buffet is really easy to set up, it only takes a couple of minutes. I loved how lightweight and easy the pans were to use. I had the buffet system set up with the food in it about 30 minutes before our guests started to arrive.
Using the buffet made it so easy to do the finishing touches to the party because I wasn’t worried about keeping the food hot, but not burnt.
Once our guests arrived we visited for a few minutes and then dug into the yummy food. While we ate I loved not being stressed about keeping the food warm in case anyone wanted seconds. Everyone had at least two servings of lasagna. (I think one of the husbands had three or four servings, before telling his wife she should make lasagna.)
Needless to say, the meal was a hit and everyone loved that the food was hot and ready for second, third and even fourth helpings.
Tip: Make sure that the serving utensils don’t get put inside the chafer especially if they are metal. If they do get left in the food pans be careful. They can be hot!
While enjoying the food we had multiple conversations going. Amongst the talk of work and family, we talked about the Sterno Home Buffet and how nice it is to have for parties and family gatherings. We also talked about how nice it will be to use for upcoming holidays. One of the wives mentioned how awesome it was and said she could definitely see the benefit of having a buffet chafer set.
After we had consumed way too much food while the kids were self-entertained we played a couple rounds of one of our favorite card games, Cover Your Assets.
As we were wrapping up the fun evening my husband showed everyone the candles. Needless to say, everyone had to check out how the awesome candles work. (I can’t wait to show you how I’m going to use them in my home decor now that our party is over!)
I can’t wait to have another party and invite more friends over to use our Sterno Home Buffet. The buffet system really does take a lot of the stress out of hosting a party and allows me to enjoy visiting with friends.
Along with keeping the food warm really well I also love how compact the buffet folds down to store and how lightweight it is. The price for the buffet is really reasonable for how useful it is.
One thing to be aware of is that the pans can be sharp. While I was scrubbing the baked on lasagna this morning I gave myself a small cut from the edge of the pan. It was small like a paper cut so not a big deal but something to be aware of.
Something else I noticed is that depending on the food you put in the food pans sometimes it looks like it has stained the dish.
Tips for Using the Sterno Home Buffet
- Get the Food done early – The buffet does an awesome job keeping the food warm. So get rid of the stress of having everything hot and ready at the right time. Plan on the food getting done 20-30 minutes before guests arrive, in case something isn’t done you have extra time. Once everything is done put it in the buffet chafer and don’t’ worry about it staying warm.
- Wash it in the dishwasher! Yep, I love that I can scrub the stuck on stuff and stick it in the dishwasher to get all clean!
- Put it out of reach of kids. With my toddler, this was one of my main worries so we ended up doing a different buffet area than I originally planned but I didn’t want my two-year-old to be able to reach the buffet.
Overall we loved using the Sterno home buffet and the beautiful pillar candles and we are excited to use them for upcoming holidays.
Have you used a home buffet system before? What did you think?
I received free products in exchange for hosting a party and writing this post. All opinions are my own.
