On one of our trips to New York we drove past signs for the Turkey Hill Experience and after finding out what it was we added it to our bucket list.
This past weekend we crossed finally made it to the Turkey Hill Experience with an awesome deal we found on Groupon! (Don’t forget to use Ebates to save even more on your Groupon deals.)
What is The Turkey Hill Experience?
If you don’t live on the east coast you might have no idea what Turkey Hill is so first let me clarify Turkey Hill is a brand of Ice Cream, Lemonades and Teas.
The Turkey Hill Experience is a fun experience where families can learn about ice cream and tea in a hands-on and family-friendly environment.
Where is the Turkey Hill Experience?
The Turkey Hill Experience is located in Columbia, PA. It’s only 40 minutes from Hershey’s Chocolate World and an hour from Gettysburg.
Things to do at The Turkey Hill Experience
From the time you enter the Turkey Hill Experience until the samples at the end you are in for some fun hands on learning.
Hands-on Learning
Our first stop at the Turkey Hill Experience was milking cows which both of my children were afraid of. Then we drove the milk truck which both kids loved.
Watching a video explaining how Turkey Hill Ice Cream is made in the little theater was next on our adventure followed by creating our own ice cream flavor that we could later view from home.
Next to this area was a kids ice cream shop that both of our kids enjoyed playing in. They scooped ice cream and wanted money in exchange for the cones.
There were tons of other activities including seeing inside milk with a Bacteria blaster game, creating a commercial, slide, ball pit and more.
Tastings
Tea and Lemonade Tasting
The tea and lemonade tasting is near the front of the experience. This is an all you can drink sampling area. The flavors are not the same each day so different visits mean different flavors!
Ice Cream Tasting
The samples are generous and you can try as many flavors as you want. To get your samples go to the ice cream counter and tell them which of the flavors you want to try.
When we visited not only did they have hand dipped ice cream they also had some of their decadent delights bars to sample. We tried the Tropical Mango and Chocolate Covered Strawberry both were delicious!
Before you leave don’t forget to take a picture with the huge cow in front of the building.
Taste Lab
We did not do the taste lab on our trip to The Turkey Hill Experience. The Taste Lab gives you the chance to make your own Turkey Hill Ice Cream Flavor. This is a great additional activity to the basic experience.
With our 2 and 3-year-old the experience without the lab was plenty for them to enjoy.
If you decide to add the Taste Lab to your experience reservations are required so be sure to get your tickets online and reserve a time, on busy days they will sell out.
