I haven’t taught for the last couple of weeks since one week the missionaries taught a combined lesson to the youth and adults and the next week I was out of town. Yesterday in Young Women’s I taught the lesson What is the Purpose of Life?
To start the lesson, I asked the girls to explain what the purpose of life would be if they didn’t have the church. We sat in silence for a minute to let the girls think. One of the girls said that it was hard to think of a purpose without the knowledge they have.
We then read the talk “Your Happily Ever After” I used the Passing and Writing idea I found on the Red Headed Hostess. She has the talk “Your Happily Ever After” formatted to fit on one sheet of paper (front and back). I had them pass the papers after about 2-3 minutes and I gave about 12 minutes total, so we would have time to discus the talk.
I included the leaders (myself included) in passing and marking the talks. After we had a discussion about the talk and what stood out specifically about what we need to be doing now.
I then gave the girls a sticky note to write something they will do more of in the coming week and something they will do less of, to help them achieve their “Happily Ever After”.
This lesson went well with my group of girls. I think it’s a great idea to let them read the whole talk occasionally.
