This past year we traveled and explored a number of places in the United States. This year our family has a list of different places we want to explore. To help us keep track and remember the places we have visited we are keeping a travel journal.
Last year I created a Travel Journal for our family. After using it for a year and making a few tweaks I have created a Travel Journal for your family to enjoy.
Creating this Travel Journal is fast and easy.
All you need is:
A Binder or Folder
Printed Travel Journal (Get it at the bottom of this post!)
Sheet Protectors or Hole Punch
Pens and Markers
Once you have gathered all of your supplies it’s simply assembling the journal
Print out the travel journal, I recommend printing on card stock.
Then it’s up to you if you bind it put it in a folder, binder, etc. I personally keep our family’s Travel Journal in a binder so I can easily add more journal pages and each year I can add to it.
Like I said before I keep our travel journal in a binder. In the front pocket of the binder, I put the Instruction sheet so I know where to get extra Journal Pages.
The first page of my binder is a pencil case. Inside the case, I include different pens and highlighters, washi tape, glue, a small pair of scissors and change to smash pennies when we travel.
I also used Washi Tape to make tabs so I can quickly turn to my bucket list, maps and journal pages.
Write Your Bucket List
The first page of this travel journal is a blank Bucket List. Have fun filling this out with your family.
I have included a lot of space, don’t feel like each line has to be filled. You can always add to your bucket list throughout the year. (If you are like me you might need to print two or more pages for your bucket list.)
Color Your Map
The next set of pages in our Travel Journal is a grouping of maps. We have a map for all of the states we have visited as a family. We also have a map for each individual person and a Map of places visited in the current year.
To get multiple maps for each person print additional copies of page 6. This page has a space to write in a name.
When I was putting our journal together I decided I wanted to see the map as soon as I opened the journal so I changed the order and put the maps in before the bucket list.
The journal pages are formatted to be used as a bullet journal. I don’t have any artistic talent so don’t judge my drawing/handwriting. I like to include photos and tickets along with information about the places we visited.
I keep the unused journal pages in the back pocket of my binder and only put them inside a clear sleeve when I have added my “stuff” to them.

Last and most importantly have fun creating memories with those you love!
This year we will be sharing our adventures on Instagram with the Hashtag #nevertakethesameroadtwice. We would love it if you use the hashtag so we can see what adventures you are having!
Don’t forget you can add our State and City Bucket Lists to your Travel Journal.
