For years Florida has been one of my favorite places to visit, especially when it’s freezing in other areas of the country. Since we moved to Florida it’s definitely time to have a Florida Bucket List.
If your a Florida local or just looking for things to do when you visit the sunshine state this list of over 50 things to do throughout the state is a great place to start.

The places to visit and things to do on our Florida Bucket List are in no particular order.
1.Disney World
Disney World in Orlando Florida includes 4 theme parks and a couple of water parks. Now through June 27,2019, Florida Residents can get 3-Day Discover Disney Tickets for only $175 plus tax!
2. Universal Studios
Visit your favorite Universal characters and experience the wonder of Harry Potter World at Universal Orlando.
3. Sea World
Enjoy thrilling roller coaster, live animal shows and fun animal encounters all at Sea World located in Orlando.
4. Clearwater Beach
Clearwater beach sits on a barrier island along the Gulf Coast. It has 2.5 miles of white sandy beaches and is a perfect beach to visit with kids.
5. Venetian Pool
The Venetian Pool in Coral Gables Florida was created in 1923 from a coral rock quarry. The 820,000-gallon pool is fed with spring water from an underground aquifer. Children under the 3 years of age are not allowed into the facility.
6. Earl of Sandwich
The Earl of Sandwich though not exclusive to Florida is a sandwich shop that you should definitely visit. 11 of the 30 Earl of Sandwich United States locations are in Florida. Our favorite Sandwich is the Holiday Turkey.
7. Disney Springs
Disney Springs is an outdoor shopping, dining and entertainment area at the Walt Disney World Resort. It’s free to go and explore Disney Springs.
8.Coral Castle
Coral Castle in Miami Florida is a sculpture garden created by Ed from 1923 to 1951. Ed secretly carved over 1,100 tons of coral rock.
9. Fort De Soto Park
Fort De Soto Park covers 5 islands and 1,136 acres on the Gulf of Mexico and Tampa Bay. It not only has a beach it also has the Fort De Soto Park’s Historic Fort and Museum.
10. St. Augustine Beach
Since moving to the Jacksonville area we have been told by several people that the beaches in St. Augustine are really nice so we are excited to go explore those beaches and let you know what we think.
11. Fort Matanazas National Monument
This historic fort in Saint Augustine Florida is free to visit including the ferry ride to the fort. Just stop at the Fort Matanzas visitor center to get your free boarding pass for the ferry.
12. Castillo de San Marcos
The Castillo de San Marcos is the oldest and largest masonry fort in the continental United States. The fort is located on the western shore of Matanzas Bay in St. Augustine Florida.
13. St. Augustine Alligator Farm Zoological Park
The St. Augustine Alligator Farm Zoological Park is one of Florida’s oldest continuously running attractions. It opened on May 20, 1893.
14. St. Augustine Lighthouse and Maritime Museum
The St. Augustine Lighthouse is a working lighthouse that was built between 1871 and 1874.
15. Washington Oaks Gardens State Park
Washington Oaks State Park is located near Palm Coast Florida.
16. Kingsley Plantation
Kingsley Plantation is located in the Timucuan Ecological & Historic Preserve near Jacksonville Florida. Weekend tours are available of the inside of the Plantation home.
17. Visit a Farmer’s Market
There are Farmer’s Markets spread throughout Florida. These are great places to get fresh and local produce. Search google for a farmer’s market near you.
18. Amelia Island
Amelia Island is part of the Sea Islands chain of barrier islands on the Atlantic coast of Florida.
19. Mickler Beach
Beautiful family friendly beach with facilities. Great place to find sharks teeth. This beach is located on the southern end of Ponte Vedra Beach.
20. Legoland Florida Resort
Legoland Florida Resort is located in Winter Haven. If your kids love everything Lego then Legoland is the place to visit. Read about our experience spending a day with our toddler at Legoland.
21. Three Sisters Springs
In the winter, Manatees can be viewed from a boardwalk or the water at the Three Sisters Springs.
22. Weeki Wachee Springs State Park
Weeki Wachee Springs is a natural tourist attraction in Weeki Wachee Florida. There are underwater performances by mermaids in an aquarium-like setting.
23. Florida Caverns State Park
This state park is located in the Florida Panhandle near Marianna. It is the only Florida state park with air-filled caves accessible to the public.
24. Attend the Daytona 500
The Daytona 500 is a 500-mile-long NASCAR motor race held annually at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida.
25. Devil’s Den
Devil’s Den is a Prehistoric Spring inside a cave. Perfect for snorkeling and scuba diving.
26. Dry Tortuga
Dry Tortugas National Park is located almost 70 miles west of Key West. This National Park is 100 square miles and most of it is open water with 7 small islands.
27. Kennedy Space Center
The Kennedy Space center is Florida’s gateway to pace. experience rocket launches and more at the visitor complex.
28. Two Tails Ranch
This Elephant Ranch is the only facility of its kind. The ranch was built to board both Asian and African elephants needing temporary or permanent housing. (website)
29. Go Glamping
There are several places to go Glamping in Florida. Do some research and pick a place to go Glamping with your family.
30. Fountain of Youth
The Fountain of Youth is located in Ponce De Leon’s Fountain of Youth Archaelogical Park in St. Augustine.
31. Everglades National Park
Everglades National Park protects the southern 20% of the original Everglades in Florida. The park is the largest tropical wilderness in the United States.
32. Bok Towers
Located north of Lake Wales Florida Bok Tower Gardens is a garden and bird sanctuary. It has 250 acres of garden and a 205-foot tall singing tower with it’s carillon bells.
33. Busch Gardens
Busch Gardens in Tampa is a 335 acre African animal themed theme park.
34. Seacrest Wolf Preserve
Experience rare wolf and human encounters at the Seacrest Wolf Preserve.
35. Florida Keys
The Florida Keys are a string of tropical islands stretching about 120 miles off the southern tip of Florida.
36. Blue Spring State Park
Blue Spring State Park is home to a first-magnitude spring that is one of the largest winter gathering places for manatees.
37. Turtle Hospital
Enjoy an educational tour of the turtle hospital after which you can feed some of the hospitals residents.
38. Daytona Beach Boardwalk
The Daytona Beach Boardwalk was built in 1938 and is a fun family friendly boardwalk and pier.
39. National Naval Aviation Museum
The National Naval Aviation Museum is located in Pensacola, Florida. It is a military and aerospace museum.
40. ICON Orlando
The ICON Orlando 360 is a fun destination with an observation wheel, aquarium, wax museum and more.
41. Crayola Experience
Last year we were able to visit the Crayola Experience in Pennsylvania. We are so excited to visit the Crayola Experience in Orlando.
42. See a Florida Sports Team Play
Florida is home to several sports teams including 2 professional basketball teams (Miami Heat and Orlando Magic) and 3 NFL teams (Jacksonville Jaguars, Miami Dolphins and Tampa Bay Buccaneers).
43. Key West Butterfly Garden
The Key West Butterfly Garden is home to between 50 and 60 different species of butterflies from around the world.
44. City of Celebration
The City of Celebration is located near Walt Disney World and is a community that was designed by Disney.
45. Spook Hill (website)
Spook Hill is a gravity hill. It is an optical illusion where cars appear to roll up the spooky hill that is located in Lake Wales.
46. Fort Christmas Historical Park (website)
Located in Christmas Florida Fort Christmas was built during the Second Seminole War. Construction on the fort began December 25,1837.
47. Gaylord Palms Resort
The Gaylord Palms is a beautiful resort located in Kissimmee Florida. Several years ago we stayed at the Gaylord Opryland Resort in Nashville, TN and loved it.
48. Gatorland
Gatorland is the Alligator Capital of the world and a fun family attraction in Orlando.
49. Ernest Hemingway Museum
Located in Key West is a property that was home to one of America’s most honored and respected authors.
50. Dinosaur World
Dinosaur World is an outdoor dinosaur theme park that features over 150 life-size dinosaur sculptures.
51. Visit a Citrus & Orange Grove (website)
53. Fort Zachary Taylor
Fort Zachary Taylor Historic State Park is located at the southern Tip of Key West.
