This Thanksgiving candy corn poem is a fun and easy addition to your Thanksgiving dinner this year.
Growing up we went to my great-grandma’s house for Thanksgiving every other year. Each time we celebrated Thanksgiving with this side of the family we would find 3 candy corn next to our plate at dinner.
I know for a lot of people when you think of candy corn you probably think more of Halloween than Thanksgiving. Unless of course, you have seen the cute turkey desserts you can make with candy corn.
Anyway each year we had 3 candy corns sitting next to our plate and my great-grandma would talk about how each of the candy corns were to remind us of the blessings we have. Then we would go around and everyone would share something they were grateful for.
As the number of people in the family grew we quit going around and having everyone share what they were grateful for but the 3 candy corns stayed next to each plate.
Now as an adult whenever I see candy corn I’m reminded of my great-grandma and how she used this simple candy to remind us of the many blessings we are each given.
I remember her talking about how if we could just name three blessings and remember that we have so many more blessings we would be so much happier.
Thanksgiving Tradition
With my own family each year we place 3 candy corns next to each person’s plate and go around the room and share 3 things we are thankful for. As the family grows I’m sure this tradition will grow and change too. But it’s a good reminder of how blessed we are.
Last year to go along with the 3 candy corns I also typed up a little poem to go with the candy corns.

Putting Together the Candy Corn and Poem
This poem along with 3 candy corns also makes a great little lesson for class or even a little something you could give to neighbors this fall.
I put 3 candy corns for my family in a square of plastic wrap and wrapped the candy corn in it. Then I used a curly ribbon to attach the poem to the candy.
It was quick and easy to put together and hopefully when my kids see candy corn they are reminded of all they have to be grateful for.
