Renting an RV can be a great way to have personal space and still spend time and visit family. In this post, we share a few reasons to rent an RV when visiting family.
When we talk about going to Utah to visit family Jared and I often joke that we need a vacation from our vacation. With both sides of our families and a ton of extended family living within an hour of each other, it makes for some crazy days.

Why Should You Rent an RV When Visiting Family
Although there are plenty of reasons it’s nice to have a motorhome when visiting family, these are the top 5 benefits we saw from renting on RV. This list is arranged in no particular order.
#1 Camping
Over the first weekend of our trip to visit family in Utah, we decided to go camping. Flying across the country and borrowing stuff or hauling it with you to go camping is not fun. Renting a Motorhome makes it so much easier. Find out about our camping trip here.

#2 Unpacking
When we visit family we usually end up staying with at least 2 different people, sometimes more. Changing the place you are staying that often in a 7-10 day vacation makes it really hard to unpack.
With the motorhome, we unpacked everything and then wherever we went all of our stuff came with us.
#3 Plenty of Beds
Instead of sleeping on an air mattress or borrowing a siblings bedroom, having the RV gave us plenty of space for our family of 4 to spread out and beds to sleep in.

#4 Alone Time
Visiting family is so fun but constantly being around a lot of people can be hard.
When our kids needed some space it was nice to have the motorhome to let them breathe and relax before they had to get ready to go back to the group.
#5 Food and Drinks
Having our own little kitchen allowed us to have foods our kids like with us all the time. Both of my kids have hit a picky eating stage and if they don’t like the food they won’t eat. Hungry kids are not happy kids, so it’s always nice to have some food options that they like.
Having a motorhome totally changed our trip and made it more relaxing. We didn’t even talk about needing another vacation.
Have you ever rented an RV when visiting family? Is it something you would consider doing?

This is an awesome post. I liked such a good blog. I’ve learned a lot of things here.
Thanks for sharing the great post!
I wouldn’t have thought about using an RV when visiting family. I liked that you pointed out that if you use one you will have plenty of beds. That does seem like a good thing to be aware of when you have a lot of kids.
This was the first time we thought of renting an RV and it was definitely a game changer.
