Inside: Free Homeschool resources we are using in our homeschool this year that we are loving.
We are just finishing our 8th week of the school year and I figured now is a great time to share the FREE homeschool resources we are loving this year!

This is our 6th year of homeschooling and we have kids in 5th grade, 3rd grade, preschool and toddler.
I know there are a lot of different homeschool resources out there but I thought it would be helpful to compile a list of FREE resources we like and actually use. So lets get to the good stuff!
Free Homeschool Resources
These resources are in no particular order, some of them we have used for several years and others are new this year.
Many of these homeschool resources are great for kids of all ages, while a few are definitely for more specific grades.
KidNuz
We just added the KidNuz Podcast to our morning devotionals and we are all loving it. It shares short kid appropriate news and there is a fun quiz to make sure you’re listening.
You can listen to the daily episodes (each week day) on their website or wherever you listen to podcasts. If you haven’t heard of this podcast before it’s definitely worth checking out.
The Good and The Beautiful
We love The Good and The Beautiful and have been using them for math and language arts for years. We typically buy their curriculum already printed. But they offer both Math and Language Arts for grades K-8 for free as PDF downloads on their website.
This year I decided to try printing our language arts instead of buying the curriculum and thanks to my amazing printer it has worked great.
I do want to say I feel like printed The Good and The Beautiful curriculum is an amazing price. We will probably purchase the printed and bound curriculum again in the future. For this year it’s been so nice to continue to use the curriculum we love and be able to save some money.

Kahn Academy
My toddler and preschooler love playing the free Kahn Academy Kids app when they get screen time.
For my 3rd and 5th graders we are using the Kahn Academy website. There are a ton of classes offered for free on the site for grades Pre-K through College. We have been using the math classes for review and to change things up once or twice a week.
Code.org
My kids have been loving doing lessons on code.org I’m tempted to try some of their classes.
They offer free coding curriculum for grades k-12. I’ve been very impressed with how much practice my kids get using what they learn. It’s been so fun to watch my kids enjoy this class.
Libby
Libby is such a great resource for ebooks and especially audio books. It’s one of my go to places to get audio books for when we travel or when I want to do an audio book instead of reading a book outloud.
Typing.com
Typing.com is an awesome free typing program my kids have been doing for a couple of years. It’s well put together and has been a great way for them to learn typing.
I love that it tracks the lessons completed and shows checkmarks so the kids know right where to start each time they login.
TypeTastic.com
We just found TypeTastic this year and my kids love it! So while we are still using typing.com they are also doing typetastic.com.
TypeTastic is more gameafied and my kids love it. There are a lot of free lessons and games, to get all of them you have to pay for the program. So far we are just doing the free stuff.
Between TypeTastic.com and Typing.com the kids are getting a solid foundation in typing.
The Good and The Beautiful Homeschool App
The free app is utilized with different lessons in The Good and The Beautiful Curriculum. But I use some of the videos just as part of our day.
We like including the Days of the Week Song and Month of the Years Song in our morning time devotional. (You can find htose videos in Math K).
In the Games, Music and Extras part of the app the Booster Games are a great review for kids and the we have really liked the How to Spell songs for numbers and colors.
There are other resources in the app we haven’t checked out yet.
Independent Work Checklist
I made these Independent Work Check Lists for my kids a few years ago and we are still loving them.
They help us stay organized and get things done. You can get the free printable to use for your own kids here.
Hoffman Academy YouTube
My kids are taking private piano lessons, but they still love using Hoffman Academy videos.
During the summer we took a break from piano lessons and the kids just used Hoffman Academy to learn new songs and they still love finding new songs to learn with these videos.
ABC Crafts
For my toddler and preschooler this year I wanted to do a fun ABC craft with them for each Uppercase Letter of the alphabet.
I looked at buying some of the sets I saw on etsy, but couldn’t find one I really liked that used the right sound. For example I didn’t want to do an Eagle craft for the letter E. I wanted a craft that used the short e sound like Elk or Egg.
So I decided to make my own. You can find all of the ABC crafts we’ve done so far (along with free printable pages) this year.
Pinterest is such a great free resource for homeschool moms. I find ideas on pinterest all the time.
Last month for our read aloud I did a quick pinterest search for free coloring pages to go along with the book and found some pages that were perfect.
If you’re not already following me on pinterest you should. I love sharing all kinds of fun homeschool resources and kids ideas.
Library
Our local public library saves us so much money. Every week we checkout 20+ books and at least 4 DVD’s (my dvd player is another one of the best purchases ever). Buying all those books and movies would cost us a lot of money.
We also love doing library programs and playing with toys at the library. Over the years we have done story times, Lego building, STEM activities, book clubs and more.
