Free Printable Independent Work Check List

Inside: Independent work check list to help kids keep track of their school work without the need of a planner.

We are just finishing up our first week of school this year and I figured it was about time I shared these Independ Work check list pages we have been using for the last 3 years.

I had planned to share these with you shortly after I made them, and then promptly forgot. Until I shared our homeschool table on Instagram and someone asked for the pages.

Sorry you had to wait for the pages, I hope you enjoy using them in your homeschool this year.

Independent Work Checklist

The Independent Work checklist is a free pdf file at the bottom of the post.

There are a lot of ways you can use these checklists. You can print a new check list each week or laminate it to use over and over again.

I have found it works really well to laminate the blank checklist and then use a sharpie to write down the tasks. The kids use expo markers to check things off and then I wipe it with a paper towel at the end of the week.

If I need to change one of the tasks I’ve written in sharpy I use a magic eraser to remove the sharpy.

You can obviously write the tasks on the paper before laminating and that works great too.

What To Put on the Checklist

There are a couple of different ways that you can decide what to put on your independent work checklist.

You can put all the school tasks your child has to do each day on the lists or you can just put the work they will be doing on their own.

I have done it both ways and it’s worked great.

This year with a 3rd and 5th grader I decided to add an additional page to the back of their independent work. It’s a homeschool schedule. (don’t worry it’s also included in the printable pdf below)

So for their independent work page I list all the individual subjects (math, LA, handwriting, piano, etc.) that my kids need to do each day.

For the days they don’t need to do the work (my kids love that they have days they skip things) I fill in the square.

On the bag side of the independent work page is our homeschool schedule.

Homeschool Schedule

On the homeschool schedule I include our family subjects and lessons. Things like devotional, science, history, piano lessons, trip to the library, etc. all get put on our homeschool schedule.

A lot of things we do the same day each week but once in a while we change things up so writing the schedule in sharpy on the already laminated page has worked really well.

Pro Tip: Before I laminate the pages I do a trial week or two with paper copies to make sure what I have listed on the check list and schedule actually works.

I hope you enjoy these printables and they help you stay organized this homeschool year.
