Sharing a few hospital must haves specifically for nursing moms.
It’s time to pack the hospital bags, how exciting! It can be so hard to know what you need to bring to the hospital with you and what you won’t need until you get home.

I could list all the things you should bring with you to the hospital, but for this post, I’m going to stick with what you should bring to the hospital if you’re going to be breastfeeding.
Breastfeeding Moms Hospital Packing List
If you’re planning on breastfeeding there are some extra things that are helpful to bring with you to the hospital when you have your baby.
1. Nursing Pads
Depending on your milk supply you might not need nursing pads for long, but even if you don’t have an oversupply of milk like I do you will most likely use several nursing pads over the first few days and weeks.
I took a box of disposable nursing pads to the hospital with me but by week two when I was still crazy leaking I purchased these washable nursing pads that I love.

2. Nursing Bra
When your milk comes in you will be so glad to have a nursing bra to hold the nursing pads in place and still make it easy to feed the baby for the millionth time.
Make sure you get a few comfortable nursing bras so you can always have a clean one. It really does make a difference having a comfortable nursing bar that’s easy to nurse in.
3. Nipple Cream
The first few days of nursing are the hardest and most painful. You will probably want to have some nipple balm or coconut oil to help with the soreness.

4. Pump
If you’re planning on pumping it can be a good idea to bring the pump with you to the hospital so you can get some help figuring out how to use it.
When I had the little man I wasn’t planning on pumping, but I ended up using a pump at the hospital.
It was so nice to have the help of the nurses and lactation consultant while I figured it all out. Plus they have so many helpful tips.
5. Nursing pillow
If you plan on using a nursing pillow bring it. These pillows can help you get into a comfortable position when nursing.
With my first baby, I just couldn’t get the nursing pillow to work for me and it was easier to use a pillow of my bed. Part of my problem was having a c-section and being so sore.
Bonus: Don’t Bring a Nursing Cover
Honestly, while you’re in the hospital a nursing cover would just be a nuisance especially if it’s your first baby.
Save the nursing cover for once you go home when you and the baby have got the hang of things and your not paranoid about the baby slipping off or things like that.
