I changed the game up a little changing Pete to Santa Claus and creating a printable Don’t Eat Santa game board.

What you need:

  • Small candy or treat (We like to use M&Ms, fruit snacks, and marshmallows, but you can easily use any favorite small candy or treat).
  • Game board (Get it at the bottom of the post)

How to Play Don’t Eat Santa (Christmas Don’t Eat Pete)

To play the game you need at least 2 people, but you can play with as many people as you want.

Place the game board in the center of the playing area and have everyone sit in a circle around it. Place one piece of candy on each Santa.

Choose one person to be it. This person leaves the room. While the “it” person is out of the room all of the other players choose one of the 9 Santa’s to be “the Santa” for that round.

After “Santa” has been chosen call the person who is “it” back into the room. Don’t tell who Santa is, make sure everyone keeps his identity a secret!

Now the Person who is “it” gets to start choosing pieces of candy to eat while everyone watches and waits for them to pick Santa.

As soon as they touch the candy that’s on “Santa”, everyone yells “DON’T EAT Santa!!”. Their turn is now over and someone else gets a turn.

When playing with young kids we keep the yelling to a minimum and instead whisper yell “Don’t Eat Santa” so we don’t have tears.

After each turn, the person who was “it” only gets to eat the candy they collected before they touched Santa!

The game can be played multiple times so everyone gets a turn or two trying to collect candy and not eat Santa!

The Goal of the Game:

Pick “Santa” last! After all the rounds are played the person who was able to collect the most candy before picking “Santa” is the winner.
