Now don’t get me wrong I’m so grateful that I’m able to stay at home with my kids. I wouldn’t have it any other way but being a stay at home mom isn’t easy.
The stay at home mom life seems like such a luxurious and dare I say easy life… until it’s your life.

The Challenges of Being a Stay at Home Mom
No Breaks
For me, this can be one of the hardest things about staying at home with the kids. When it’s an off day and everyone has an attitude, it is so hard not being able to take a break from being “mom”.
Especially with young kids, not getting a break can be so draining. My days are filled with “mom, mom, mom” about every little thing. Now sometimes it’s cute, but when your kids have already reached saying it oh about a hundred times and it’s only 10 am it gets old.

Losing Vocabulary Skills
If I throw in some baby talk or all of our conversations are on a simple vocabulary level, just remember I spend my days talking to a preschooler and toddler.
Keeping up With Everything
It’s a constant struggle to stay on top of everything. Since I’m at home all the time it seems like it should be easier to keep the house clean, laundry and dishes done, etc. But it’s not. I’m still figuring out systems to keep up with everything.
No matter if your a stay at home parent or a working parent I think balancing everything is a constant struggle.

Talking to Adults
Sometimes I just really need to talk to an adult about something other than Lightning McQueen or Mario. These are the days that as soon as my husband walks through the door he is inundated with me talking about anything and everything.
I have found that playgroups are a great way to have adults to talk to.
Mom Guilt
This is something that most moms experience. Since I’m at home with my kids all the time I have found myself feeling guilty about so many little things that I shouldn’t. Somedays I feel guilty that I didn’t play with the kids enough, even when we spent hours playing.
Mom guilt is something I am really working on controlling. It’s not good to feel guilty when you have done the best you can. I shouldn’t feel guilty for taking a few minutes to do something for myself during the day.

The Journey of Motherhood
As my kids continue to grow and change I know that the challenges of being a stay at home mom will continue to grow and change. Hopefully, I will become more organized and some of the struggles will change because I have grown as a mom.
