The Best Toys for Your Toddler: 18-24 Months

Toddler life, when everything is new and exciting. Each place you visit is a new adventure and each toy, rock, and plant has a story.

I love the toddler stage, it’s such a fun time when imagination and reality are one and the same.

I love hearing my toddlers talk about favorite characters as friends. When they have conversations with their toys I can’t help but smile.

The Best Toddler Toys for your 18-24 month old. These toys are perfect for gifts or to have when a toddler comes to play. #giftideas #todder #toys

Today I want to share a list of toys that are perfect for this age group. Many of the toys are simple at this age and encourage imagination.

This toy list includes toys that my son and daughter loved to play with when they were between the ages of 18-24 months. Some of these toys they still love to play with at times.

The Perfect Toys for Your Toddler

Here are some toy ideas for the 18 – 24 month old toddlers in your life. Though many of these toys are things parents purchase to have for their little ones, they also make great gifts.

1. Mega Bloks

Mega Bloks are great for little ones from about 18 months until 3 years old to build with. My oldest still occasionally plays with our Mega Bloks but typically he prefers Lego Duplo or Regular Legos.

Mega Bloks don’t fit as tightly together as Lego building blocks so they are perfect for young kids still working on developing motor skills.

Mega Bloks are perfect for building towers and knocking them over.

Want to know more about the difference between Lego Duplo and Mega Bloks for your kids? See my comparison here.

My son is 18 months old and the toys on this list are either toys he loves to play with or toys I think he would love (and might get). Most of these toys work great for both boys and girls! thekeeledeal.com

2. Fisher-Price Little People Noah’s Ark

This Noah’s Ark is such a  fun toy.  Both of my kids love playing with animals in this set. My son loves trying to fit them through the windows instead of the door, silly boy.

My mom has had one of these Little People Noah’s Ark toys for 10+ years and it’s still one of the grandkid’s favorite toys.

Another Fun Noah’s Ark toy is the Melissa and Doug Noah’s Ark Shape Sorter.

3. Bath Toys

Bath toys could be a whole post all on its own there are so many fun ones out there. My kids love taking baths so we have gone through our share of toys for the tub.

I tried to avoid getting toys that squirt because I hate that they grow mold inside.

But we always end up getting a few squirting toys I just grab my glue gun and fill the hole before we take the new toy in the tub. Now the toy doesn’t squirt and shouldn’t get moldy.

Our favorite bath toys include:

  • Magnet Boats – the kids love that the boats connect and you can pull them around the tub.
  • Tug Boat – The boat scoops and pours water rand it comes completely apart to dry!
  • Swimming Penguin – The kids got one of these for the first time a few years ago and it’s still a bath time favorite.

Don’t forget something to store the bath toys where the water can drain away from the toys. You can thank me for that tip later!

4. VTech Go! Go! Smart Wheels

VTech Go! Go! Smart Wheels are so fun. For the little man’s first birthday he received this set and loves it!

The great thing with this toy is that they will play with it even as they get a little older. We have had ours for years everything still works and the track gets played with daily.

5. Step2 Car

Step 2 has the push car and cozy coupe. We got the push car for the little man when he turned 1 and he loved it for a year or so and then he outgrew it.

I wish we would have purchased a cozy coupe because I feel like they enjoy playing with it for a longer time. Both of my kids still currently at ages 2 and 4 love playing with the cozy coupe type of cars.

6. Water Table

Water tables are such a great summer toy. They let kids play with water in a safe environment, without needing tons of water.

I would say 18 months to 2 years is the perfect time to get a water table that your little one can continue to enjoy for several years.

My kids love dumping water all over and splashing, we usually have to fill up the water table multiple times because so much water ends up outside the table.

7. Cars

You can never have too many hot wheels type cars! They are great for in the car, on planes and at almost any other time.

Don’t feel like cars are limited to little boys my daughter loves playing with them just as much as my son does.

If you don’t have any cars getting a pack with multiple cars is a great way to start your car collection. Disney roadster racers and the characters from Pixar’s Cars movie are favorites at our house.

8. Rolling Ball Ramp

Our little man loves the click, clack sound that the balls make when you hit them together. He also has fun hitting the balls and watching them roll through the tower. Shop here.

9. Pro-Ball Set –  Soccer, Football, Basketball

This set of 3 pro- balls made for smaller hands is perfect for letting the little ones play big sports with daddy. The football was my little boy’s favorite at about 18 months but my daughter loved the soccer ball.

This set is great because it comes with different balls so you can introduce multiple skills (throwing and kicking) and sports.

10. Turn and Learn Driver

This Turn and Learn Driver is such a fun toy to introduce at this stage. I love it when my kids tell me where we are going and then start driving.

This toy is something both of my kids started playing with when they were 6-7 months old but they still find it fun to play with at 18-24 months.

My son who is 4 almost 5 will build a car with his play chairs and then grab this and sit in the front and tell me to get in the car.

11. My Barnyard Friends

My Barnyard Friends spans more than just the 18 months – 2-year range. We got this as a gift when our little guy was just a few months old and he played with it until well past his second birthday.

He loved how the animals make sounds, and that he can carry them around in the barn.
