Do you ever feel like your bedroom becomes a catchall for random things? I can’t tell you how many times my dresser gets covered in the most random things. Luckily it doesn’t have to be that way, there are so many easy bedroom organization hacks that you can easily start using right now!
Since moving into my first apartment after graduating from high school to now as a mom of multiple kids I have lived in a variety of different apartments, condos, and homes.

Each place I have lived has had a different layout and storage options. My favorite is of course the places that have had big walk-in closets and tons of storage.
But through all of our moves, I have learned several organization hacks that help us stay organized (for the most part) and will help you keep your space looking large and organized even if it’s really not that big.
Bedroom Organization Hacks
With these bedroom organization hacks, you can easily say good buy to those random odd socks and everything else cluttering up your bedroom right now and say hello to a clean and organized space.
Raise the Bed
Raising the bed higher is one of the best bedroom organization hacks I can give you. When we created more storage under our bed not only did it create more space in our room but in other areas of the house too.
There are a couple of ways you can raise the bed you can get these bed raisers and use them to raise the frame or if it’s time for a new bed this raised bed frame is awesome!
We have a king 18 inch one in the master bedroom and in the kid’s room we have the 14 inch high frame under the queen. We have had these for several years and love them!
Under the king, we can fit the large 18 gal plastic totes, and under the queen bed, we can fit the smaller 45 quart size plastic totes.
Use Plastic Totes for Storage
Since I shared that we store plastic totes under our bed I thought it would be a good idea to share how you can use the totes to keep your bedroom organized.
We have several totes stashed under the bed with photos, journals, and random stuff from high school, college, and all that.
We also use totes under the bed to store clothing that is out of season (things like coats and jackets during the summer and shorts and swimming suits in the winter.)
We also store extra blankets and things like that in totes under the bed. It’s a great idea to tape a note card to the outside of the tote so you know what’s inside without opening it up. (psst… I have found that it’s one of the best moving hacks too!)
Storage Cubes
Storage cubes are great for you guessed it storage. The 4 square size makes a perfect nightstand while the larger ones can be used in the closet as an easy shelving option.
Storage cubes can also be used as a functional TV stand or even as an entry type table into your room with storage.
Just think you could put books as well as decorative bins on the shelves and have a place to put jewelry, keys, and other things on top.
Shoe Organizer
There are a number of different ways to organize shoes and a bunch of different shoe organizing options you can purchase.
I have seen people use tension rods to create shoe storage and hangers to hang boots.
I personally organize shoes by using an over the door shoe organizer in my closet, as well as having a bench with shoe storage in the entryway for the shoes we use all the time.
Figuring out what storage method works best for you will depend on how much storage you have in your home and what you personally like.
Bedside Caddy
Don’t have space for a nightstand or need more space than the nightstand you have is giving you?
This bedside caddy is a great way to add storage to the side of your bed while taking up very little space.
Baskets
If you have shelving in your bedroom closet using baskets is a great way to keep those shelves nice and organized.
Hanging Shelves
Several of the places we have lived haven’t had very much shelving in the closets.
These hanging shelves are a great way to get a little more storage without having to do any remodeling.
Plastic Drawers
Already have a dresser but need a little more storage? Plastic drawers come in a variety of different sizes and can easily be put in your closet for additional storage.
You can even use small plastic drawers for jewelry and smaller things.
A Cart
These storage carts are really trendy right now, plus they are functional. There are so many different ways you can use these carts.
You could use one in your closet for storage or use them as a nightstand for more storage by your bed.
Under-Bed Storage
I already mentioned that we have raised our bed so we have space to put large plastic tubs under. Even if you don’t have a lot of space under your bed, use it for storage.
There are short under the bed storage containers that make it easy to access the stuff you’re storing under the bed.
If you’re looking for a new bed and don’t want a raised one there are some great beds that have drawers and other storage options under them.
Drawer Organizers
We all know that dresser draw space can get used up fast. Luckily there are some awesome drawer organizers that can help you maximize that drawer space.
Jewelry Organization
If you have a lot of jewelry it can be hard to keep organized. I don’t have a lot of jewelry since I don’t wear it very often so I use a simple jewelry box.
If your collection of Jewelry is larger then you might want to check out these mirror jewelry storage options. They are a great way to get more storage while keeping your room looking clean, plus you get a large mirror too!
Scarf Storage
Scarves are one of my favorite fall and winter accessories. For a long time, I had all my scarves piled on a hanger, which worked but was a pain when I wanted the scarf on the bottom.
Now I use a hanging scarf organizer that makes it easy to see and get the scarf I want. If you have space in a drawer to store your scarfs this scarf organizer is a great option.
Hanging Belts
Just like scarves belts can take a lot of space and be hard to store. Luckily someone smart created this simple way to hang your belts in the closet.
This keeps them from getting weird bends in them and it takes up a lot less space.
Functional Nightstands
There are a lot of cute nightstands out there but don’t forget to get something functional too. I love the nightstands that have either drawers or shelves for storage.
Bench Storage
Do you have space at the end of your bed for a bench? These storage benches are a great way to get more “hidden” storage in your room.
You can get a basic storage bench for out of season clothing, blankets, shoes, or anything else.
If you need a place to file paperwork this awesome filing cabinet bench is a great choice.
Minimize and Get Rid of Stuff
While there are a lot of great ways to organize and maximize the space in your bedroom it’s also important to get ride of stuff. There is no point in storing something you’ll never use!
Several times a year I try to go through my bedroom (and the rest of the house) and get ride of things we don’t use or are broken. This helps us minimize the stuff we need to keep picked up and organized.
If you haven’t gone through your stuff recently now is a great time. You can probably even sell some of the stuff for a little extra cash.

Great tips! I definitely need to get rid of some stuff.
Raising the bed is such a great idea! We have the gift wrapping stuff under our bed but I really need to raise it up because it’s crammed under there.
