10 Unique Places to Stop Between Provo and St. George Utah

Road tripping from Provo to St. George might not seem like much of a road trip since it’s only about 4 hours. But there is a lot you can see and several places to stop between Provo and St. George.

Growing up in northern Utah I can’t even count how many times my family drove from Provo to St. George while I was growing up.

10 places to stop driving from Provo to St. George

Now with my own family, we have made that trip several times and while we usually only make one or two stops along the way there are actually some fun places to stop between Provo and St. George.

Now we need to plan another trip so we can stop at more of these places. We have only visited a couple of these stops in all the years we have been making this drive. Next time we need to stop a few more places.

Places to Stop Between Provo and St. George

For this post I’m sharing places to stop between Provo and St. George so the stops will start in Utah County and make their way south. If you’re driving from St. George you can always stop at these places too, just change up the order.

Krishna Lotus Temple

Spanish Fork

The Krishna Lotus Temple is located in Spanish Fork Utah not far off of I-15.

Daily Tours of the temple are available from 10 am to 7 pm. The temple tour is about 10-30 minutes long and covers the history, beliefs, and deities of Krishna consciousness.

There is also have an animal park where you can see Llamas, cows, peackocks, parrots and koi fish.

Walk-ins are welcome at the temple but if your group is 6+ you need to book a tour in advance.

At the temple you can also visit the Gift Shop and vegetarian buffet.

Special festivals are held at these temples at different times of the year.

Rowley’s Red Barn

Santaquin

The Rowley’s Red Barn is located just off the freeway in Santaquin and a fun place to stop for farm-fresh food and country fun.

Stop at the Red barn for homemade ice cream, pastries, and fresh farm produce.

Don’t forget to check and see if any fun events or activities are happening at the Red Barn before you stop.

Utah Territorial Statehouse

Visit Utah’s territorial statehouse in Fillmore Utah.

Here you can learn about Utah’s early history during the state of Utah’s time as a territory in the oldest existing Utah government building.

While visiting the Territorial Statehouse you can also visit the museum store, American Rose Society Garden, two restored cabins and an 1867 stone schoolhouse that are located on the grounds.

Cove Fort

Beaver

Cove Fort is located halfway between Beaver and Fillmore, it was an important way station for travelers, the Pony Express and the telegraph from 1867 through the early 1880’s.

Today you can tour cove fort and learn about the families who lived there and how thy provided for the needs of travelers.

The Creamery cups of ice cream

The Creamery

Beaver

The Creamery is a great place to stop and stretch your legs, enjoy ice cream and pick up some squeaky cheese to enjoy on your drive.

We have been stopping at the Beaver Cheese factory for years and now with the new building, The Creamery is an even better place to stop. There are so many reasons to stop, just take a look at our visit to The Creamery.

Philo Farnsworth Statue

Did you know Philo Farnsworth the Father of TV was born in Utah? He was born in Paragonah near Beaver. Before he had any thought about TV he moved to Rigby, Idaho. But his birthplace was Utah.

You can see a statue of Philo Farnsowrth on the west side of the Old Beaver County courthouse in Beaver Utah.

After seeing the statue head into the old Beaver County Courthouse to tour the museum it’s free.

Parowan Gap Petroglyphs

Parowan Gap Petroglyphs

Parowan

Just a short drive from I-15 you will find the Parowan Gap Petroglyphs.

Several centuries ago Native Americans carved designs into the boulders on the east side of the Parowan Gap. Many of the boulders are covered with these petroglyphs that are believed to be the work of a number of different groups.

What the petroglyphs mean is still unknown and debated among archaeologists.

Ceder Breaks National Monument

Ceder Breaks National Monument

Brian Head

Cedar Breaks National Monument is located 23 miles east of Cedar City.

The entire monument sits above 10,000 feet. At Cedar, Breaks National Monument enjoy cool hiking trails, camping, and amazing views as well as a dark night sky.

There is a fee to enter the monument but if you have a National Parks pass this is included in that pass.

Kolob Canyons

New Harmony

Just off the highway you will find the visitor enter and entrance to Kolob Canyons.

Kolob Canyons is a section of Zion National Park that sits on its own 40 miles north of Zion Canyon and 17 miles south of Cedar City.

At Kolob Canyons you can take a five-mile scenic drive to view the canyons and access trails and scenic viewpoints. With canyon streams, cascading falls, over 20 miles of hiking trails and soaring peaks Kolob Canyons is a place you definitely want to spend some time exploring.

There is a fee to enter the park but if you have a National Parks pass this is included in that pass.

Toquerville Falls

La Verkin

Toquerville Falls is an oasis in the desert and just a short bumpy drive from the highway. Driving to the falls is best done in a truck or other 4 wheel drive vehicle since the road can be rough.

The falls though not extremely large are beautiful and a fun place to play and explore.
