30 Things To Do Before I Turn 30

You guys this week I turn 28, which is kind of funny since I thought I was 28 for like half the year. Let’s just blame that on pregnancy and mom brain.

Anyway since I only have 2 years left in my 20’s I thought it would be fun to put together a list of 30 things I want to do before I turn 30.

30 things to do before I turn 30 letter board

Have you ever done a milestone bucket list? I haven’t which is probably kind of surprising with how much I like lists and how many other bucket lists I have.

Writing the List

Now I know everyone’s milestone bucket lists will look different depending on where they are at in life and what their focus is so keep that in mind as you read my list of 30 things I want to do.

These are things that I think would be fun to do and will help me grow and make the most of the last 2 years in my 20’s.

So why am I sharing this post with you instead of just writing it in my journal?

Well, I thought it might interest some of you and give you ideas of things you would want to add to a milestone bucket list. Also, it keeps me accountable to try and get the things on this list done.

It’s easy to say that we want to do something “one day” but if we aren’t careful we will just have a pile of “one days” and nothing to show for the days that we have lived.

30 Before 30

Okay, let’s get down to it here are 30 things I would like to do before turning 30. (These are in no particular order, I’m just numbering them to easily track them)

#1 Visit New England

I have visited a lot of different states but never made it farther north on the east coast than New York. I would love to visit all of the states in New England but even just visiting a couple would be awesome.

My dream vacation to New England would be to take a fall road trip through the area and hit each of the states.

#2 Travel Outside the United States

I haven’t traveled outside the United States since I was 3 when my parents took me with them on a trip to Brazil. I would love to visit several places outside the United States but for this list I won’t specify a specific location.

#3 Read 24 Self Help / Non-Fiction Books

Before turning 30 I want to read 24 non-fiction books. That may not seem like a lot especially to those that know how much I love to read. But I honestly don’t spend very much time reading since having kids and non-fiction / Self Help books are a genre that I don’t typically read.

#4 Run a 5K

So I seriously hate running but I think it would be fun to run/walk a 5k or do one of those fun runs with the obstacles. I’m not saying I will enjoy running but I think it would be cool to have done a “run” at least once in my life.

#5 Write a Book

As a kid, I used to write stories all the time and I still sometimes think up random stories. So I think it would be fun to write a book and self-publish it on Amazon.

I haven’t decided if I would rather try writing a children’s book or a book for adults. I guess I should figure that out before I start writing.

#6 Go on a Trip to Disney World

When we lived in Florida a couple of years ago we were able to visit Magic Kingdom and Epcot. I would love to go back and visit all 4 of the parks and stay at a Disney World Resort Hotel.

#7 Go on a Couples Trip

Jared and I have gone on a couple of different overnight getaways since having kids thanks to my mom watching the kids. Before turning 30 I would love to go on another little trip for a night or two.

#8 Move into a House

I would say buy a house but I’m not sure if that will happen in the next 2 years. We have owned and sold 2 different townhomes and we would like to buy another house but we will see when that happens.

Regardless of purchasing or renting I would like to move into a house before turning 30. (the sooner the better!)

#9 Stay in a Beach House

I love visiting the beach, it’s one of the things I miss the most about living in Florida. So I want to rent a house right on the beach for a few days.

I don’t really care where the beach is but I would prefer it be next to a warmer ocean. Florida, Georgia or North Carolina would be a lot of fun.

#10 Lose the Baby Weight

3 baby’s (4 pregnancies) in my 20’s means I have gained a lot more weight than I ever thought I would. I would really like to lose the baby weight, starting now.

#11 Make $100K

This is probably the scariest thing I put on this list. I have been a stay at home mom since I was pregnant with my first baby, which I love!

During that time it’s taken a lot of time and work to get this blog going and growing. I have some big kind of scary goals to continue to grow and I think it would be really cool if I could make $100K before expenses by the time I’m 30.

#12 Buy a Piano

I learned how to play the piano growing up and never really enjoyed it but now I wish I would have spent more time playing. When we move into a house I would like to buy a piano and spend time playing it.

#13 Go on a Cruise

I have never been on a cruise, but I think it would be a lot of fun. I’m not sure if or when this will be possible in the next year or two but it’s something I want to do so I’m adding it to the list.

#14 Get 10K Followers on Instagram

10 thousand followers and that coveted swipe up feature on Instagram had to make the list at some point.

I have a love hate relationship with Instagram. I have made some really good friends through Instagram and love staying connected to family and friends using it. But I have a hard time figuring it out and using it as a “business” tool.

#15 Try Foods from Other Countries

When I was growing up we had a lady that would come and stay with us from Brazil. She taught me how to make several different Brazilian dishes and I loved it. I would love to try more foods from other countries without actually having to visit all those countries.

#16 Make Date Night a Habit

Right now date night is really a struggle for us, I would like to start making it more of a priority. Even if it’s dates at home and only happens once or twice a month I want to make dat night a habit.

#17 Get Family Photos Taken on the Beach

I want to get family photos taken on the beach that’s all. Oh and actually print the photos after they are taken.

#18 Start Sewing Again

I have always really enjoyed sewing I even helped with several kids’ sewing camps when I was a 4-H intern when I was in college.

Since having kids though I have only pulled out my sewing machine a handful of times. I would like to start spending more time sewing again.

#19 Visit a “New” National Park

Visiting National parks is always a lot of fun. Last year we were able to visit 2 national parks for the first time and it was so much fun to explore as a family.

Since we have visited most of the national parks that are close to us I’m only putting visit 1 new national park on the list hopefully we can visit more than one. But the national parks we still need to visit aren’t very close.

#20 Learn How to Take and Edit Better Photos

Photography is something I have enjoyed doing for years. It’s also something I would like to get better at.

With how good cameras are on phones now I default to taking pictures on my phone but I would like to spend more time taking photos with my camera and editing them.

30 before 30

#21 Make Yearly Photo Books

I take thousands of photos each year but I rarely print any photos. By the time I turn 30 I want to go back and make photo books for the past several years and continue making them for each year.

#22 Get My Second Blog into Mediavine

So I’m probably crazy, but my sister and I started a blog together and I would really like to get it into Mediavine within the next couple of years.

It took me 5 years to meet the requirements for this blog so fingers crossed we can get the other one there a lot faster.

#23 Have an Etsy Shop

Some of you might know that I have a shop on this site where I sell digital products. I have been debating setting up an Etsy shop for the last couple of years. But I’m actually going to do it. Might as well give it a try and see if I like it. If not then we will go back to just having a shop on the website.

#24 Create an Easy to Use Early Elementary School Science Curriculum

For those of you who don’t know I’m a second generation homeschooler. I was homeschooled until 7th grade and now I’m homeschooling my kids.

This year we have been having a lot of fun doing science activities and using the magic school bus videos as a resource. I would love to write a curriculum that uses those videos as the basis, with experiments, worksheets, and more.

#25 Visit the Grand Canyon

The Grand Canyon has been on my bucket list for a while, I grew up out west and we go out every year to visit family. So I’m thinking we should make a trip to the Grand Canyon on one of our trips out west.

#26 See Niagara Falls

We have visited New York State and New York City multiple times but never made it to western New York to see Niagara Falls.

It’s not that far of a trip so hopefully seeing Niagara Falls will be an easy thing to cross of this list.

#27 Go to Hershey Park at Christmastime

We went to Hershey Park a couple of years ago and it was a lot of fun. This year we decided to get Hershey Park season passes so we should definitely be crossing this item off my list this year.

#28 Clean Out My Inbox(s)

So there are two types of people in this world those with a ton of emails in their inbox and those with organized accounts. Jared has an organized email while mine has thousands of unopened emails.

When I told Jared I was putting this on my list he laughed. But seriously it might take me 2 years to clean out all my inboxes and actually keep them that way.

#29 Plant a Garden

This past summer while we were in Utah we were able to help my grandpa in his garden and it was a lot of fun and so good for my kids.

I would like to plant a garden at least once in the next 2 years. Even if it’s a little garden on a patio, I want to give it a try.

#30 Write a 30 in my 30’s Bucket List

Last thing on my list is to write a list of things I want to accomplish in my 30’s.

Hopefully I will have crossed all of these items of my list so they won’t make it onto the new list.

What is something you wish you did, are glad you did, or want to do before turning 30?
