Easter is such a fun time of year for doing spring crafts, decorating eggs and making yummy Easter snacks.
This year along with decorating some fake eggs I thought it would be fun to make an Easter treat the kids could decorate.
These Easter egg rice krispies treats are such a fun activity and a cute snack for kids to enjoy this spring.
Easter Egg Rice Krispie Treats
I made these rice krispie treats following my favorite recipe. I like to make them on the stove but you can make them in the microwave if you prefer.
First melt your butter, than add in the bag of mini marshmallows.
Stir the marshmallows continuously until they are all melted and remove from heat.
Add the rice cereal stirring as you go. Mix so all the cereal is coated.
After mixing the treats I spread them on a greased cookie sheet and let them cool.
Then I used a canning lid to cut out circles of the crispie treat and I made the circles into ovals (you could use an egg shaped cookie cutter if you have one). Then the kids got into the fun part.
Decorating Easter Egg Rice Crispies Treats
Once I had all the rice crispies treats in egg shapes the kids came and decorated them.
We had several different colors of frosting (you can get premade or make your own) and some mini M&M’s for the kids to decorate with.
They had so much fun decorating all the eggs with different colors and patterns.
It was a fun and easy spring activity and snack all in one.
These would be perfect for a class party or as something fun to do with your kids at home.
Easter Egg Rice Krispies Treats
Fun and easy Easter treat to make with your kids
Ingredients
- 1/4 c. salted butter
- 1 pack (about 10 oz) mini marshmallows
- 6ish cups rice krispies
- frosting (multiple colors are fun)
- mini M&M's
Instructions
- In a pot over low heat melt butter.
- Add mini marshmallows and stir continuously until completely melted.
- Remove from heat and add cereal.
- Stir to coat cereal well.
- Press cereal and marshmallow mixture into greased cookie sheet. Cool.
- Cut into egg shapes (I used a canning lid then smashed the circle a little to make an egg shape)
- Decorate!
