The holidays are almost here, which means holiday activities are in full swing. Since this is our first Holiday Season in Frederick I have been doing some research about what holiday activities are in the area. Since I’m sure someone else is looking for things to do in the area; I decided to share some of the fun activities I found. So here are the Free Holiday Activities in Frederick, Maryland (some are within a short drive of Frederick).

Festival of Trees at Heritage Frederick
The festival of trees is open November 24 – December 7 every day except for Mondays and Tuesdays, check the website for specific hours. It’s free to view the trees if you wish to vote it’s $1 per ticket.
Walk Through Bethlehem
December 8-10 and 15-17 from 6-9pm you can walk through Bethlehem. This is an outdoors experience so dress warmly and don’t bring your stroller.
A Main Street Christmas
Take a short drive to Mount Airy on December 2 to experience A Main Street Christmas. The tree lighting ceremony is at 5:30 followed by a Santa parade at 6:30 and pictures with Santa.

Christmas in the Valley 2017
Saturday, December 2 from 4-8pm experience Christmas in the Valley in Middletown, Maryland. Participate in Miracle on Main Street from 4-8pm, the tree lighting at 6 pm and Holiday Musical Program at 7 pm.
Annual Holly Jolly Event
Stop by the Thurmont Regional Library on December 2 from 10-1 and enjoy hands-on crafts, an ugly sweater contest. Santa and Mrs. Claus will read ‘The Night before Christmas’ at 1 pm.
Traditional Village Christmas
Saturday, December 2 10 am – 4 pm experience what Christmas was like in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Meet Belsnickel and experience Kris Kringling.(This office is the first thing I think of when I hear Belsnickel! Thank you, Dwight! Season 9 Episode 9)

Polar Express Party
The Urbana Library a short drive from Frederick is having a Polar Express Party December 6 from 2:30 pm -5 pm with a story, activities and a screening of Polar Express at 3 pm. Don’t forget to wear your pj’s!
Make a Gift
Kids ages 3-5 can make a different craft each Thursday at 1:30 at the C. Burr Artz Library in downtown Frederick.
Gingerbread House Playdate
10 am December 6 make a Gingerbread House all supplies will be provided just bring a cold weather donation that will be given to the Frederick Rescue Mission.
Kris Kringle Procession
December 8 in Downtown Frederick Kirs Kringle is coming to town at 6:30. The event starts at the corner of South Carroll and East Patrick Streets. For more info go to Celebrate Frederick.
Museums by Candlelight
Saturday, December 9 visit the Museum of Frederick County History to learn about the historic holiday and the winter traditions of Frederick County. Santa will visit from 2-4 pm and don’t forget the seasonal treats, crafts, and games.
Make a Tin Ornament
Kids 3-11 can go to the Middletown Library and make an embossed tin ornament. Thursday, December 21, 2017.
