If you’re looking for a fun and easy April fools dinner this chicken nugget dinner is perfect.
One of my favorite holidays each year is April fools’. I love doing food pranks on my family, and the kids look forward to it every year.
I did meatloaf cupcakes a couple of years ago and let me just warn you, make sure you have real cupcakes to eat after the meal.
Last year I decided to do our April fools dinner a little bit differently and have the dessert be dinner followed by our real dinner.

April Fools Chicken Nugget Dinner
The menu for our April fools dinner was simple chicken nuggets, mashed potatoes, veggies, and undrinkable fruit punch.
One of the best parts about this meal is that you can prep everything beforehand. I made the veggies a couple of days in advance.
The first part of this meal you’re going to want to make is the drink!
Undrinkable Fruit Punch
Our undrinkable fruit punch was made using jello. We have done this prank for the past several years and the kids think it’s hilarious so for right now it’s something we do each year. I have a post all about making undrinkable fruit punch here.
After you’ve got your drinks in the fridge it’s time to start on the chicken nuggets or should I say Rice Krispie treat nuggets.
Rice Krispie Treat Nuggets
To make these delicious nuggets you need rice Krispies treats (store-bought or homemade), white chocolate, and corn flakes.
First make or open your rice Krispie treats and shape them to look like a chicken nugget.

I made homemade Rice Krispies and had to wait a few minutes for the treat to cool down before I could shape them.
After your rice treats are ready crush some corn flakes and put them into a bowl this is going to be the breading for your chicken nuggets.
Now it’s time to melt your white chocolate. I used vanilla almond bark because it’s easier to melt without burning and work with.

After the chocolate is melted cover the Rice Krispie treats in white chocolate and roll them in crushed corn flakes.
Set your finished nugget on parchment paper to dry.
If you want to serve a sauce with your nuggets strawberry jelly makes great ketchup and I used caramel sauce for honey mustard.

Now that the nuggets are ready let’s work on our sides. Let’s talk carrots and peas.
Candy Carrots and Peas
These candy carrots and peas will have the kids asking for more veggies.
To make this side dish you can use either airheads or starbursts. You will only need the green and orange colors.
I chose to use airheads to make my veggies but either of those candies will work.

Making these veggies is really easy after opening the candy your going to shape the green candy into circles like peas and the orange candy into squares. (You want it to look like the frozen carrots and peas you can get at the grocery store.)
After you’re done shaping your veggies you can set them to the side until you’re ready to plate your dinner.
Now it’s time for the last side dish, mashed potatoes, and gravy.
Ice Cream Potatoes
Cold mashed potatoes are the perfect side for this dinner. There isn’t a lot of prep for this side dish, you’ll need to dish it up right before serving.

To make these mashed potatoes place a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the plate and cover with caramel sauce.
Make a little dip in the ice cream to hold the sauce like you would with real potatoes and gravy.
Enjoying your Sweet Dinner
Now that you’ve got you’re dinner put together it’s time to enjoy it. If your kids are like mine they are going to love this fun chicken nuggets dinner.
