April Fools’ Pizza for Kids

April fools’ day is one of my favorite nontraditional holidays. Growing up each year my mom made the day special with funny food jokes and now I love doing the same thing for my kids. This April fools’ Pizza dinner was a favorite.

As I was trying to come up with what to make for our April Fools’ dinner I was trying to think of the foods my kids like. Pizza is a favorite so I figured an April Fools’ Pizza would make the perfect dinner.

April Fools’ Pizza

Our April Fools’ Pizza was actually a giant sugar cookie.

I made my favorite sugar cookie dough and rolled it out. I put the pizza pan on the rolled-out dough and used a butter knife to cut around it.

Make sure you grease the pizza pan really well so that your cookie will be easily removed. Bake the cookie on the pizza pan and then let it cool.

While the cookie is cooling make some red frosting and shred some white chocolate for the cheese. You could use shredded coconut for the cheese but my husband and kids don’t like it so I used white chocolate.

Once the cookie has cooled frost it with the red frosting make sure you leave a crust around the edges of your pizza cookie.

Top the frosting with shredded white chocolate or coconut. If you use white chocolate you may want to put the cookie in the oven for a couple of minutes so the chocolate melts a little bit.

I used a torch to lightly brown a few spots on the top of the pizza like cheese does on a regular cheese pizza.

Once your pizza is ready put it in a box and slice it. Or slice it on the pan if you don’t want to put it in a box.

We ordered Domino’s pizza for our actual meal and asked for an empty box when we picked up the order.

If you want to add toppings to your pizza red fruit roll-ups can be cut into circles for pepperoni, airheads can be cut and shaped as green peppers and black licorice works for olives.
