Halloween is such a fun holiday to celebrate with kids and this paper bag witch puppet is a fun and easy craft to add to your list of Halloween activities.
This puppet is perfect for preschoolers and toddlers to make. Elementary age kids will have fun getting even more creative with the craft.
My daughter and I made these puppets together and had a lot of fun getting creative with our witches.
Paper Bag Witch Puppet
I love getting creative with my kids, but I’m not very good at drawing and free handing anything so I love using templates.
You can totally make this witch puppet freehand with construction paper but if you want to use a template you can get the free printable one I created and used at the bottom of this post.
Supplies for a Paper Bag Witch
- Paper Bag
- Construction Paper
- Glue
- Googly Eyes
- Scissors
- Template (optional)
Easy Halloween Paper Bag Witch Craft
To make this easy craft you can use the template as a coloring page or as a template.
To start off we made the dress of our witch. Pick the color of paper for her body and then use the paper bag to measure, mark and cut the paper to the correct size.
Glue the construction paper to the bag going under the flap.
Next we made the witches face. We used the circle face as a template to cut out the green construction paper for our witches faces.
Once we had our green circles cut out we glued them to the flap (bottom) of the bag.
Next up was personalizing all the things.
We added googly eyes, drew her nose and face and added details.
For our witches hair we used crunched up orange tissue paper
My daughter wanted to color the spider and witches hat from the template to use on her puppet. She also made a cute broom out of construction paper.
I cut my witches hat out of construction paper and drew a spider right on the bag. (a circle with some lines for legs makes an easy spider).
After adding all the finishing touches our Halloween paper bag witch puppets were ready for a spooky Halloween puppet show.
