Easy Halloween Paper Plate Wreath Kids Craft

I love using cheap paper plates to make adorable crafts with my kids. Keeping the supplies cost down means we can craft more often.

Halloween Paper Plate Wreath Craft

This paper plate Halloween craft is a fun activity to do with toddlers, preschoolers and elementary age kids.

The wreath simple enough littles can have fun with it and involves googly eyes so elementary age kids love it. (the eyes usually end up in pairs more often with older kids.)

You can include this simple and easy craft in a preschool playgroup, as part of a Halloween party or as a fun and easy craft to do at home.

Halloween Paper Plate Wreath Supplies

For this fun paper plate Halloween wreath, you only need a few supplies.

If you craft with your kids very often chances are that you already have the supplies on hand!

Supplies

  • Cheap Paper Plate
  • Black Paint (or another spooky color)
  • Googly Eyes and Glue or sticker googly eyes
  • String

Making the Halloween Paper Plate Wreath

This craft is so easy you are going to love it…and so will your kids!

Cut the Wreath Shape

First, cut out the middle of your paper plate to give you a wreath shape.

I typically do this before we start doing the craft since it’s still a little too challenging for my toddler and preschooler. My elementary age kids can do this part themselves.

After the wreath shape is cut out toddlers, preschoolers and kids can do the rest of the craft easily.

Paint

Up next is getting that wreath shaped paper plate painted. We wanted our wreaths black so the eyes would really stand out.

I had my kids paint the paper plate wreath black, so it was really dark instead of using crayons or markers.

If you don’t want to do paint with your kids you could have them color the plate black or even glue on construction paper to give it a black background. (you can use another color like purple, green or orange if you want.)

After you have a dry black paper plate wreath it’s time to add the eyes!

Adding Googly Eyes

I don’t think you’re ever too old to have fun crafting with googly eyes, they make things so fun!

Grab the googly eyes and have fun attaching the eyes to your plate.

I love using the sticker googly eyes but with younger kids they may struggle to get the sticker backing off the eyes.

Glue and regular googly eyes might be a better option depending on your kids ages.

For the paper plate wreath I made my eyes are together in sets, the ones my younger kids made the eyes are random all over the wreath.

Both look cute and look cute and a little spooky, perfect for Halloween.

Hanging the Paper Plate Halloween Wreath

After the eyes you are ready to hang your wreath.

I like to grab a hole punch and make a hole at the top so you can add a string to make it easy to hang your wreath.

Another options is to tape the string to the back of your wreath so you don’t have a hole at the top.

These wreaths are fun way to decorate for Halloween by hanging up throughout the house.

We have one of our Halloween paper plate wreaths hanging on the pantry door to give the kitchen a little bit of Halloween fun.

Kids love to hang these fun Halloween paper plate wreaths on their bedroom doors too.

Crafting your own Halloween Paper Plate Wreath is a fantastic way to get into the Halloween spirit and decorate your house.
