The national park service (NPS) takes care of hundreds of different properties including: national parks, national monuments, national battlefields, national seashores, national historic sites and more.

National Parks

Sixty-three of the sites have “National Park” in their official name and those are the parks we are typically referring to when we talk about national parks.

With 63 National Parks across the country, keeping track of the National Parks you visit can be so fun and you know I love a good bucket list!

Here’s a list of the 63 National Parks in the United States, organized by state with a little bit more about each park. 

Alaska (8 Parks)

1. Denali National Park – Home to North America’s tallest peak, Denali.  
2. Gates of the Arctic National Park – A remote, rugged wilderness with no roads or trails.  
3. Glacier Bay National Park – Famous for its tidewater glaciers and marine wildlife.  
4. Katmai National Park – Known for brown bears catching salmon at Brooks Falls.  
5. Kenai Fjords National Park – Stunning fjords, glaciers, and whale-watching opportunities.  
6. Kobuk Valley National Park – Features massive sand dunes in the Arctic.  
7. Lake Clark National Park – A mix of mountains, forests, and salmon-filled rivers.  
8. Wrangell-St. Elias National Park – The largest National Park in the U.S.!

9. Grand Canyon National Park – One of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World.  
10. Petrified Forest National Park – Home to colorful petrified wood and ancient fossils.
