This free printable Mad Lib Father’s Day card gives kids the freedom to fill in silly blanks about Dad while coloring fun emojis on the front. No pressure to write perfectly. No boring pre-written messages. Just pure kid logic.

What Makes This Madlib Card Different from Regular Father’s Day Cards

The fill-in-the-blank format removes the pressure of coming up with a whole message from scratch, which is perfect for kids who freeze up when asked to “write something nice.”

Emojis and shapes on the front give younger kids something to do while older siblings handle the writing, making this a project for multiple age groups at once.

The final card feels personal because it is. Every answer is different. Every card is an original. Plus, it’s a great way to practice grammar.

Father’s Day Mad Lib Card

The printable Father’s Day Mad Lib card has two pages. Print the file double sided flipping on the short side to make a large card. (8.5×11 folded in half)

I like to print it on cardstock to give it the feel of a card instead of a flimsy paper.

The front of the card has fun, emoji faces and stars that kids can color with crayons, markers, or colored pencils. The design is simple enough for toddlers but cool enough that older kids won’t feel like it’s babyish.

Inside the card is a full mad lib style letter to Dad with blanks to fill in. Don’t read the letter as you go simply fill in the blanks with the verbs, adjectives, foods, etc. then read the story for the most silliness.

My kids worked on this together. The 4- and 5-year-old did the coloring while my 9- and 11-year-olds had a lot of fun filling in the blanks for a silly letter.
