America 250 Handprint Craft (Free Printable)

Inside: Free printable America 250 handprint craft page and instructions for making the simple craft.

This year we’re celebrating 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776.

What better way to celebrate than by making a handprint craft for a keepsake?

This America 250 handprint craft with my four kid’s handprints stacked is one of my favorite 4th of July decorations this year (and I’m totally going to pull it out for years to come!)

America 250 Handprint Craft

This America 250 handprint craft is simple and easy to make. You can make one family page with stacked handprints, or everyone can make their own with a single handprint. I decided to do both.

Supplies

  • Free Printable America 250 Page Printed (at bottom of post)
  • Red and blue craft paper (optional if you use paint)
  • Red and/or blue paint (optional if you use craft paper)
  • Glue (if you use craft paper)

Stacked Handprint America 250 Decoration

The first thing I decided to make was a stacked handprint America 250 decoration to put in a frame on the fireplace.

First, I printed out my favorite of the America 250 pages. You can print it on regular paper or cardstock it’s up to you.

Then I traced all the kid’s handprints on red and blue paper. Since I have 4 kids, I did two red handprints and two blue.

For stacked handprints I feel like cutout handprints work better than painted handprints.

After cutting out the handprints I layered them from oldest to youngest in the spot left open for the 5 in 250. I used a glue stick to attach them to the page.

After adding the handprints, I cut the page down to an 8×10 size so it would fit in the picture frame I had. Then I put the page in the frame and put it on the fireplace.

I decided to leave the 2 and 0 white, and I love that the pop of color is the kid’s handprints.

Painted Handprint America 250 Keepsake

After making the stacked handprint page to decorate with I decided to also have the kid’s each make their own keepsake with a painted handprint.

The kids each picked the page they like best and we printed them. Then I let them decide if they wanted to color the 2 and 0.

Then the kids picked red or blue paint (or both) and added their handprint to the 5 spot in 250.

After the paint dried, we added these keepsake pages into their scrapbook boxes so they can see the size of their hand when the United States of America turned 250 years old.
