We love reading at our house and it’s always fun to keep track of the books you read and the days you read too!

Along with the free printable summer reading logs you can get at the bottom of this post, you can get our whole summer reading bundle in the shop.

For tracking reading year round we love using these 100 Books Reading Journals.

Summer Reading Log

At the start of the summer season we love joining summer reading programs at our local library and a bunch of other places (here is a whole list of reading rewards programs a lot are summer programs but some are during the school year).

We also love setting reading goals for the summer and creating our own reading reward system as a fun way to stay motivated to read.

The summer reading log printables are perfect for kids (probably around 2nd grade) all the way to adults!

Set a Reading Goal for the Summer

Setting a reading goal for the summer can help you stay motivated and on track with your reading progress.

You can set summer reading goals to read a certain number of books, try a different genre, read some new books, or finally get through that classic novel or series of chapter books.

Setting a daily reading goal for each day of summer break is also a great idea. Plus making reading part of your daily summer routines is a great way to read more this summer. (I love having my kids read during quiet time each day.)

Record the Books You Read

Keeping track of the books you read can be a fun and rewarding way to stay motivated during the summer months. Plus it’s fun to see a list of all the books you read at the end of the summer.

Use the free printables at the bottom of this post to keep track of your summer reading.

There are a few different pages in the summer reading printable pack including:

  • A simple reading log that tracks the date and title of the book read.
  • A reading log that tracks the date, title of the book and number of pages each book is.
  • A daily reading log to keep track of the days or minutes you read.

You can get our summer reading pack that includes all the free pages mentioned above as well as a summer reading report page where you record the title, author, and date you finished each book.

You can also rate each book and write a brief review and write your favorite part of the book.

Track Your Progress

Recording the books you read, is an easy way to see how much you’ve accomplished (I love seeing how many pages read).

You can also use the log to set goals for yourself and challenge yourself to read more books than you did last year.

One of the best ways I’ve found to remember to read and record the books is keeping the summer reading log in a place we see often.

Celebrate Your Reading!

As you fill out your summer reading tracker, don’t forget to celebrate your achievements along the way.

Whether you set a goal to read a certain number of books or to read every day don’t forget to celebrate!

We love making summer reading fun by adding in different rewards and prizes (this is a great way to help reluctant readers spend time reading).
