This year has been a little wacky so far so why not share some fun and wacky holidays to celebrate with your family while everyone has some extra time at home.

April is the start of spring and hopefully warmer weather for many of us. It’s also filled with fun and wacky holidays, including April Fools Day which is one of my favorites.
Holidays in April
Celebrating these holidays doesn’t have to be anything big and you don’t have to celebrate all of them. But if you’re looking for a fun way to change up your day you might want to throw in a fun and wacky holiday activity.
April 1 – April Fools
As I mentioned above April Fools Day is one of my favorite random holidays. Growing up my mom always had a fun trick or two up her sleeve. Now as a mom I love doing fun tricks for my family.
Last year we had these fun April Fools Cupcakes for Dinner along with Jello Juice.
April 2 – Children’s Book Day
Children’s Book day is the perfect day to spend some extra time reading together. Find some of your favorite books from childhood to share with your kids or spend time discovering a new book together.
April 3 – Chocolate Mousse Day
One of my favorite Chocolate Mousse treats in a Chocolate Mousse Dome from Kneaders. But if going to Kneaders isn’t an option I’m sure you can find some awesome Chocolate Mousse recipes on Pinterest.
April 5 – Read a Map Day
Reading a map is definitely a lost skill for must of us. Thanks to our phones and GPS devices we haven’t needed to learn to read a map.
To celebrate this fun holiday you could go for a family drive to someplace new and only use a map for directions. Not only would this be a fun family outing it’s also a great learning activity.
April 6 – Caramel Popcorn Day
Growing up I remember making caramel popcorn and shaking it in a brown paper bag. It was my Great-Grandma’s caramel corn recipe (I’ll have to share it soon!)
Celebrate Caramel Popcorn day by making your own caramel popcorn or by buying some to enjoy (you can get some delicious caramel popcorn on the boardwalk in Ocean City, MD)
April 7 – No Housework Day
I think this No Housework Day is going to be my new favorite holiday. Instead of spending time cleaning have fun doing an activity with your family.
Don’t think about the housework that isn’t getting done, just have fun. I promise that all the housework will still be there tomorrow.
April 8 – Zoo Lover’s Day
Celebrate Zoo Lover’s Day by spending time at the zoo or by watching some zoo webcams.
Both the San Diego Zoo and the National Zoo have several animals you can watch live on their webcams. Many other zoo’s also have animals you can watch from home.
April 9 – National Unicorn Day
Celebrate this fun holiday by doing a Unicorn craft, enjoying a unicorn treat or by having an awesome unicorn party.
April 10 – National Siblings Day
Spend National Siblings Day doing something with your siblings. Even if you live far apart send a text or make a phone call to let your siblings know you’re thinking about them.
April 11 – National Pet Day
On National Pet Day spend time playing with your pet. If you don’t have a pet don’t worry, do a fun craft and create your own rock pet.
April 12 – National Licorice Day
Celebrate National Licorice Day by enjoying some of your favorite licorice. If you want a new type of licorice to try we love the Panda Licorice (Raspberry is the best!)
April 13 – Scrabble Day
Play some scrabble today, if you have little ones at home Scrabble Junior is a great way to introduce the game of scrabble.
April 14 – Dolphin Day
Dolphins are one of my favorite animals, if I could I would love to spend Dolphin Day swimming with them or at SeaWorld. If those just can’t happen then we can spend the day reading about dolphins or watching a movie about them.
Last year at in St. Augustine we saw dolphins – can you spot them in our Day Exploring Fort Matanzas video?
April 15 – National Banana Day
Celebrate National Banana Day by making your favorite banana treat.
April 16 – National High Five Day
Give a High Five to everyone you meet today or you could always watch the Emoji Movie.
April 18 – National Haiku Poetry Day
Celebrate this fun National Day by learning about Haiku Poetry, reading some and even trying your hand at writing some poetry.
April 19 – National Garlic Day
National Garlic Day sounds like the perfect time to enjoy some garlic toast along with spaghetti or lasagna of course.
April 22 – Earth Day
Do a fun Earth Day craft or project. This cute Monster Herb Garden is a fun idea. These Seed Bomb Pops are also a fun and easy project idea.
April 23 – National Picnic Day
I don’t know about you but we will be celebrating this fun April holiday outside with a picnic lunch and possibly a picnic dinner too!
April 24 – Pig in a Blanket Day
Celebrate this fun and wacky holiday by making Pigs in a Blanket together as a family. Pigs in a Blanket are an easy things to make with the help of kids.
April 25 – National Telephone Day
I think that a game of telephone is in order to celebrate national telephone day.
April 26 – National Pretzel Day
My favorite place to get pretzels is at a dutch farmers market but if you don’t have one close you could always try your hand at making your own homemade pretzels.
We have made these Soft Pretzels in our Air Fryer and they were delicious.
April 27 – Tell a Story Day
Have fun telling stories as a family, these story dice might be helpful in coming up with new stories together.
April 28 – Superhero Day
Dress up as superheroes and enjoy watching superhero movies. You can get superhero capes and masks from Little Adventures. (All of there dress-ups are machine washable and so soft!)
