Paper Plate Christmas Tree {Kids Craft}

Christmas is almost here and we haven’t crossed off as many things as I would have liked to on our Christmas bucket list. But we did make this fun Christmas craft an easy paper plate Christmas tree.

Quick and Easy Christmas Tree paper plate craft

As you probably already know paper plates crafts are some of my favorites to make with kids. They are quick, easy, and cheap.

Last year we made a few paper plate Christmas wreaths so this year I wanted to do something different.

Instead of making a wreath we made Christmas trees.

Once we finished our paper plate Christmas trees we hung them on doors in the house as a festive door hanger.

This paper plate Christmas tree is quick and easy to make. Plus you only need a few craft supplies you probably already have.

Supplies

  • Paper plate
  • Green paint
  • Scissors
  • Glue and/or tape
  • Twine or Ribbon
  • Decorations ( glitter, paint, Pom poms, stickers, etc)

How to Make a Paper Plate Christmas Tree

First, get your paper plate and paint the whole thing green. Let the paint dry completely.

Once the paint is dry cut the paper plate into thirds. For young kids you can cut the plate for them or draw lines for them to cut.

Once you have 3 triangle pieces of your paper plate it’s time to glue them together to make a Christmas tree.

Glue the top point of one piece of the tree to the back of the next piece and continue until all three pieces are attached to each other.

To make our trees stronger we also taped the trees together after gluing them.

Now it’s time to decorate your paper plate Christmas tree.

There is no right or wrong way to decorate the tree so get creative and have fun.

I pulled out some of the craft supplies we have on hand and the kids loved gluing glitter on to their trees and also using stickers.

Pom poms and little buttons would also work great to decorate the Christmas tree.

Or you could keep it simple and use a few different colors of paint and q-tips to paint dots for ornaments.

After decorating your paper plate trees attach some twine or ribbon to the top of your tree to make it easy to hang. Hang them in your house for a fun homemade holiday decoration.

I used a piece of tape to hang our trees on some doors in the kitchen.
