If you haven’t guessed it already today’s post is how to make a cute and easy poinsettia wreath using you guessed it a paper plate!

Supply for the Wreath

To make this fun wreath you only need a few basic craft supplies and fake poinsettia flowers, I grabbed mine at the Dollar store! Cheap Kids craft right here!

ready to make the wreath

Supply list:

  • Paper plate
  • Scissors
  • Paint (I used black)
  • Glue stick
  • Poinsettia flowers
  • String/ribbon to hang the wreath

Making the Poinsettia Wreath

Paint

First, cut out the center of your paper plate to make the wreath shape. Then have the kids paint the paper plate wreath shape. We painted ours black to make the red flowers pop!

Let the wreath dry completely before you go to the next step.

Cut Apart the Flowers

I cut apart the flowers by cutting out the stem from the middle of the flowers. Then I separated the flower layers.

cut out the yellow seeds down to the stem to remove the petals

You can let your kids help with this step if you want to. My kids are still a little to knew at scissor skills to manage the technical cuts.

Glue on the Flowers

Now for the fun and sticky part. Give the kids glue sticks and the flowers and let them go to town making the wreath.

Make sure they put plenty of glue on the paper plate so the flowers stick.

We really like the bigger glue sticks for these types of projects.

Add the Ribbon

After the wreath ic s all decorated Attach the ribbon or string so you can hang your wreath. I like to do this by punching a hole in the wreath and tying a loop of ribbon. You could easily attach it with tape if you want.

Hanging the Wreath

Paper plate wreaths are perfect for decorating doors throughout the house. We almost always have one on our pantry door.

I use clear scotch tape to hang the wreaths.
