St. Patrick’s Day I-Spy Coloring Page (Free Printable)

Next week is St. Patrick’s day so I thought today was the perfect time to share with you this fun St. Patrick’s Day I-spy printable.

St. Patrick’s Day is one of those holidays that you don’t really need to do much. We usually have green pancakes for breakfast. I also usually try to do a fun St. Patrick’s day activity, craft, or book as part of our school that day.

One of the reasons I created this St. Patrick’s day I-spy coloring page printable is for any easy “school” activity. the printable is an easy no-prep activity that’s fun for the kids.

Reasons to Use I Spy Games and Books

I spy pages are a great way for kids of all ages visual learning, memory skills, and counting, among other skills.

Memory Skills

Remembering what they are looking for and how many of the item they have seen (for older kids) is a great way to work on strengthening memory skills that help in all aspects of life.

Visual Learning

Doing i-spy games helps with visual discrimination, kids visually see differences between items and identify the correct items. This skill helps with being able to identify different letters and numbers as kids get older.

Fine Motor Skills

Because this i-spy printable is also a coloring page it’s a great way for kids to work on fine motor skills as they try to stay in the lines of the different images. (This is especially good practice for younger kids.)

Number Recognition and Counting

Having a set number of an item to find or count different items is a great way to work on number recognition and counting. Plus it’s fun!

There are two different versions of this printable one with the number of items to find and one with a blank for kids to write how many of each item they found.

Classic I Spy Game and Books

Playing a classic game of I-spy with a group not just using the worksheet is a great way to help kids learn to wait their turn and problem-solve as they figure out what the other person is “spying”.

I -Spy books are also a great way for kids to work on many of these skills.

How to Use The St. Patrick’s Day I-Spy Activity Page

There are a lot of different ways you can use this fun activity. Personally, I like to use it to keep my kids entertained (for at least a few minutes) in the mornings while I’m getting things going for the day.

But you can also use this as one of several fun activities in the classroom during March and the days leading up to St. Patrikc’s Day. It’s a great boredom buster and a themed activity.

Or if you will be traveling for spring break or a weekend away you can use this free printable game as a screen-free activity while driving or flying with kids.

Printing and Supplies Needed for The I Spy Game

You only need a few supplies for this fun activity:

  • the printable game page (at the bottom of the page)
  • a printer and paper
  • crayons, markers, or other coloring supplies

You can print this fun thanksgiving activity on cardstock or regular printer paper. I usually print these types of free printables on regular paper so my kids can have fun doing them and then they eventually get thrown away.

If you want to make this free printable worksheet into a reusable activity you can use it multiple times I would recommend printing it on cardstock and then laminating it or putting it in a dry erase pocket. Then your kids can use dry-erase markers to do this activity.

St. Patricks’ Day I-Spy

The I-Spy printable has two pages one of the pages has the numbers of each item to find and color listed. The other page has the number of items to be found listed.

Print both pages or pick the one that will work best for your kids.

Items you will find on the activity page include:

  • clovers
  • rainbows
  • horseshoes
  • coins
  • treasure chests
  • leprechauns
  • and more
