Inside: Fun and easy way to decorate Easter eggs with kids this spring.
Like many of you each year for Easter we decorate Easter eggs as a family. Over the years we have done this several different ways.

My least favorite way to decorate eggs…the traditional dying. It’s so messy with little kids!
We will revisit this method of decorating when all of my kids are older…maybe.

Decorating Easter Eggs with Little Kids
A couple of years ago I got an EggMazing egg decorating kit and it was an instant hit with all of my kids. And my new favorite way to decorate eggs!
The egg spinning machine keeps the egg moving and you use markers to decorate the eggs. It’s so fun and the eggs look so cool with stripes of different colors.

You do have to be aware of kids using markers so they don’t color anything they shouldn’t. I have set my kids up at the table with a bunch of eggs and markers and we haven’t had a problem yet.
All of my kids from 2 to 10 love decorating eggs this way, and so do I. It’s so fun.
My younger kids typically decorate eggs with one or maybe two colors. Even with only one color the eggs turn out looking cool.

My older kids have gotten really creative with decorating their eggs. With different colors and patterns they are always coming up with a new idea.
Different Spinning Egg Decorators
This year I decided to get another spinning egg decorator so I had one for each kid.
I wanted to try a different style of machine, since I already have 3 different EggMazing machines. So I ordered an upright egg decorator.

Instead of having the egg lay flat to spin the machine keeps the egg standing upright and you decorate it that way.
The machine I got was cheaper than the EggMazing decorators…but it’s not my favorite.
It’s fun that the egg stands up, but it makes it impossible to decorate either end of the egg. So the eggs are white on the end unless you decorate them after taking them off the machine.

I also don’t love that once you attach the bunny (that holds the egg) to the machine you can’t take it off. It’s much bulkier to store than the flat EggMazing machines.
I did love that this machine came with some eggs to decorate though. That made the kit a really great deal price wise.
Also though I don’t love the stand up egg decorating machine my 3 year old LOVES it. It’s the only one she wanted to decorate with this year.

Tips for Decorating Eggs with Kids
Overall I would definitely recommend getting a spinning egg decorator for your kids this Easter. It’s so fun and a much less messy way to decorate eggs with littles.
A couple of other tips that make decorating Easter eggs easier with kids are:
- Fake eggs – I love getting the fake eggs at Walmart every year for like $2 a dozen. Now the eggs are ready with out any prep.
- Have an egg machine for each kid – If you’re going to do the spinning egg decorators it’s nice to have a machine for each kid. Last year the kids had to share and it worked with my older kids, but was hard for the younger two.
- Take Decorating Outside or To the Table – Pick a place that’s easy to keep all the markers, eggs and kids somewhat organized. If it’s nice we like to go outside. If it’s cold we decorate eggs at the kitchen table, so I can monitor what gets colored with the markers.

No matter how you decide to decorate Easter eggs I hope you have a wonderful Easter.
