April Fool’s Day is one of my favorite holidays and one my kids look forward to each year. They love seeing what silly joke I come up with each year.
I know a lot of people don’t love April fools, but we’ve made April 1st it into a fun tradition of harmless pranks (usually having to do with food) that we all love.

April Fools Pranks (Jokes) To Do On Kids They’ll Love
If you’re looking for lighthearted and silly April fools’ joke ideas that will have your kids giggling instead of groaning, here are some fun ideas to try.

Frozen Cereal Surprise
If you’re kids love cereal this prank is perfect. Pour your child’s favorite cereal and bowl of milk the night before and stick it in the freezer. The next morning, serve it up like normal and watch their confusion as they try to dig in! (be sure to have more cereal for them to eat after the joke).

Undrinkable Drinks
This joke is one we do every year my kids love it so much…it’s more of an April fools tradition than surprise joke at this point. Make undrinkable juice and watch the confusion and fun. Here are the details to make your undrinkable punch.
Switcheroo Snacks
Swap the inside of food packages—put baby carrots in a Cheetos bag, or grapes in a Skittles bag. You can use double sided tape to close the bag again. Kids will be surprised when they open the bag to see an unexpected food.

Sugar Cookie Cheese Pizza
Make a big sugar cookie cheese pizza for dinner. Kids will love this sweet switch on a favorite meal. (I ordered pizza for our actual dinner when I did this.) Get all the details here.
Sweet & Salty Switch
Swap the sugar for salt and let them sprinkle it on their cereal or oatmeal. Just be ready with a real breakfast afterward!

Funnel Cake Spaghetti
Make a sweet spaghetti meal for April fools with funnel cake, chocolate meatballs and strawberry sauce. Get the details here.
Brown “E”
My kids had so much fun doing this Brown “E” prank on their dad last year. It’s such an easy prank for kids to take part in. The kids cut a bunch of brown construction paper into E’s and put them in a pan covered with foil.
We made brownies so it smelled like and then hid them. The kids thought it was so fun offering their paper brown “E” pan to dad when he got home from work.

Chicken Nugget Dinner
If your kids love chicken nuggets this is the April fools joke dinner to make for them. With sweet swaps for chicken nuggets, mashed potatoes (ice cream) and veggies it’s sure to be a hit. Find out all the details for this dinner here.

Meatloaf Cupcakes
Instead of sweet make a savory swap for this prank. Make meatloaf cupcakes with mashed potato frosting for this funny April fool’s day dinner. (I recommend having some real cupcakes so you don’t have upset kids after dinner.) See how I did this dinner too.
Have Fun and Keep It Light!
Remember best April fool’s day pranks are the ones that make kids laugh! Be sure to choose jokes that match your child’s personality, and always have a good-natured laugh with them. Happy April Fools’ Day!
