As we learned about apples this fall as part of our homeschool I thought it would be fun for the kids to learn a little bit about what’s inside an apple. Plus I wanted to share the cool star hidden inside an apple.
We used this What’s Inside My Apple printable along with the parts of an apple diagram to talk about all the things inside an apple.
You can use both worksheets if you want or do them individually it’s totally up to you. To start off talking about what’s inside an apple we first wrote down our guesses in the boxes on the worksheet for what color and shape are inside the apple and how many seeds we thought the apple would have.
Apple Star Story
Then we read the Apple star story. There are several different versions of the story. My personal favorite is the Waldorf Apple Story but this other version of the story is also really cute.
After reading the story and cutting our apple in half during the story we talked about what we discovered inside our apples.
What’s Inside My Apple Printable
We talked about what shape we found inside the apple and how the core that holds the seeds looks like a star when it’s cut in half. Then the kids drew the shape they found. If it was the same shape they thought they would find they colored the thumbs up if they guessed wrong they colored the thumbs down.
Next, we talked about what color we found inside the apple and they wrote the word/colored what they discovered. Then again they gave a thumbs up or down depending on if they guessed correctly.
Lastly, we dug all of the seeds out of the apple core and talked about how many we found. Then they wrote the number they found and colored the thumbs up or down.
After completing this worksheet we had a little apple snack and then did a few more fun apple activities.
