When is the First Trimester?

The first trimester of pregnancy starts on the first day of your last period and goes until the end of week 12.

Once you find out your pregnant you are often already several weeks along, making the first trimester go a little quicker.

10 Things You Need To Do During the First Trimester

You might be wondering what you could possibly need to do during the first trimester since it’s such a long time from when you’re having your baby. But there are some really important things to do at the beginning of your pregnancy.

1. Start Taking Prenatal Vitamins

If you haven’t already started taking prenatal vitamins, then you should start as soon as you think you might be pregnant.

Many doctors recommend starting to take prenatal vitamins before you start trying to get pregnant.

Prenatal vitamins are high in folic acid something that the growing baby needs a lot of for brain development.

2. Take a Pregnancy Test

Of course taking a pregnancy test is probably fairly obvious, but still it’s still one of the first things you should probably do once you think you might be pregnant.

3. Get a Doctors Appointment

Congratulations! After you get that positive pregnancy test it’s time to give your obgyn or midwife a call.

Let them know your pregnant. They typically want to know the first day of your last period to estimate how far along you are.

Depending on your doctor and health history they will probably want to see you for the first visit sometime between 6-8 weeks.

If you don’t have a doctor yet that’s totally fine, use the first few weeks of pregnancy to research and visit different offices in your area.

4. Eat Well Balanced Meals

If morning sickness hasn’t taken hold of you try to eat well balanced and nutrient rich meals. This is not only important for your health but also for the baby.

If you’re struggling with morning sickness try and eat as nutrient dense food as you can and make sure you’re taking a really good prenatal Vitamin.
