I don’t know how it is at your house but cold snow days can be hard for the whole family. It’s not to bad if we only have a day or two when it’s too cold to go outside but when it gets longer than that we all start to go a little crazy.

We haven’t been outside to play or even to the library or playgroups the past couple weeks since our kids have been sick and it’s been freezing cold.
If you’re dealing with what feels like endless freezing cold snow days or sick days here are some ideas to help keep the kids entertained.
Things to do on a Snow Day
Get Crafty
Pullout the coloring books and crayons for a simple coloring activity or try your hand at a craft you find on Pinterest.
Read
Even if you read every day, Snow days generally call for a few extra stories and snuggles. You can find some of our favorite books in these posts.
Build a Fort
I remember as a kid making some epic forts that took hours to create, and cleanup. Since both my little ones are young the forts mom builds are pretty basic. But as they grow older I’m sure they will become more complex.
Building a fort together is a fun family activity that can be fun to play in for hours. Having a picnic in the fort is always a fun way to change up lunch or dinner!

Bake Something
Get in the kitchen and make something warm. Cookies are usually a kid favorite but don’t limit yourself to that! Get creative and try making something new. You could even try making one of these Fast and E
Don’t forget to have the kids help make meals and clean up. Helping with dishes is always a favorite at our house. I’m taking the
Play a Game
Play a board game or card game. Some of our favorite games for young kids are Candy Land, Go Fish and The Lady Bug Game.
Write a Story
Pull out the paper and art supplies and get your thinking cap ready. Writing and illustrating a story is a lot of fun but also hard work.
Create a Game with Toys
Create your own game with some of the kid’s toys. My kids always love it when we play legos or dolls with them and it’s extra fun when we play dress-up.
Make Paper Snowflakes
Grab the printer paper or coffee filters and a pair of scissors and have some fun creating your own snowflakes in the warmth of the house!
Indoor Obstacle Course
Create an indoor obstacle course to help wear off some of that energy.
YOGA
We recently discovered Cosmic Kids Yoga Adventures. It’s a fun kids yoga show that is included with your Amazon Prime Membership. Each episode the kids go on a new adventure and use yoga poses to complete the quest.
My kids love doing yoga with this show and it’s a screen time activity that I don’t feel bad about since they are moving around and learning something!
