What Should I Watch Before Going to Magic Kingdom?
What movies should you watch before visiting the Magic Kingdom? Why movies that are featured in the park of course!
There are a lot of movies that are featured in the Magic Kingdom so don’t worry if you don’t get to watch them all, but being familiar with the main films featured will definitely make your time in the park even more fun.
Disney Movies to Watch Before Going to the Magic Kingdom
Here are the movies I recommend watching before going to the Magic Kingdom. I'll explain why I suggest each movie so you know if it's one you want to watch or not.
(Don't forget to get the free printable list of movies you should watch before going to the Magic Kingdom at the bottom of this post.)
Cinderella
One reason you shuold watch Cinderella because Disney World's Magic Kingdom park is home to the Cinderella castle, but there are several additional reasons to watch the movie.
Reasons to watch Cinderella:
- Cinderella Castle
- Cinderella Fountain behind the castle
- Prince Charming Regal Carrousel attraction
- Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique
- Character meals
- Meet and greet experiences
- Character appearances in parades and shows
Beauty and the Beast
Beauty and the Beast is another Disney classic you should definitely watch.
A couple of the main reasons I feel like you should watch this movie are the Enchanted Tales with Belle attraction. As well as the Be Our Guest and Gaston's Tavern Restaurants (one of our favorite Magic Kingdom treats is from Gaston's Tavern!)
Toy Story
Watching Toy Story and being familiar with Buzz Lightyear will make your visit to Tomorrowland even more magical.
While you don't have to have seen toy story to enjoy Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin it is even more fun when your kids are familiar with the characters.
There are also character meet and greet experiences found in the park.
The Little Mermaid
The Under the Sea attraction at the Magic Kingdom is based on the little mermaid movie which is a great reason to watch this disney movie before visiting the Magic Kingdom.
You can also see characters from this show at character meet and greet experiences and in parades and shows.
Peter Pan
The Peter Pan's flight ride is one of the most popular rides at the Magic Kingdom so it's definitely one of the first movies I would watch. Make sure it's the original animated version of Peter Pan you watch because that's what you will experience on the ride.
Other reasons to watch Peter Pan before your visit include character meet and greets, appearances in parades and shows, and the pixie hollow character area. The atmosphere of adventureland will also bring reminders of this movie.
Aladdin
Walking into adventureland near the Magic carpets of Aladdin attraction you will feel like you have entered the movie.
I would recommend watching the original animated version of Aladdin and be sure to focus on the magic carpet scenes!
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
Snow White is a must watch if you have kids that are tall enough to ride the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.
The rollercoaster is fun regardless of if you have seen the movie. But being familiar with the movie will make the mining scene and dancing at the end more magical.
The Many Adventures Of Winnie The Pooh
The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh ride is one of my favorites to go on with young kids.
The play area as you wait for the ride is so fun and the attraction takes you through the different scenes of the movie. Character meet and greets are also fun with these characters.
Dumbo
Being familiar with the Dumbo movie will make you feel like you have entered the film when you visit the Storybook Circus area of Magic Kingdom.
Plus a ride on Dumbo the Flying Elephant will complete the magical experience.
Monsters, Inc.
The Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor is even more fun when kids are familiar with the characters found in this fun movie.
Pinocchio
Pinocchio doesn't have an attraction but you can see appearances in parades and shows. You will also recognize this movie in the narration of the Wishes Fireworks.
Alice In Wonderland
The Mad Tea Party attraction is named after a scene in Alice in Wonderland.
While you don't need to watch the movie to enjoy the ride if you're looking for another Disney Movie to watch before you visit Disney World this is a fun one.
Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl
The Pirates of the Caribbean attraction is one of my favorites and young kids can go on it and my kids have. They haven't seen the movie though.
For mom and dad and older kids I definitely recommend watching the movie so you can enjoy all the little details of the ride.
Tangled
Characters from tangled can be seen in appearances in parades and shows and at meet and greet experiences.
There is also a Tangled themed restroom area, maybe one day they will have an actual Tangled attraction.
Swiss Family Robinson
The Swiss Family Robinson might be a hard movie to get through but if you plan on spending time at the Swiss Family Tree House the movie will give you context for the area.
The Music Man
The atmosphere of Main Street in the Magic Kingdom along with the street music will remind you of this classic movie.
While this movie isn't really part of the Magic Kingdom it can be fun to see the similarities between the movie and main street.
